Greens light rail plans should be much cheaper than in their policy document They've used the top end of costs identified in the Infrastructure Commissions work (95th percentile at $250m per km) Whereas 75% of surface light rail projects are $100m per km or under. #nzpol

AHAHAHAHA OMG the sludge minimisation facility, which is the biggest investment into climate mitigation in the city’s history, will reduce Wellington’s emissions by 0.2%. 2000 tonnes a year. It will cost $500m, the same as like… what? Half price e-bikes for 166,000 people?

Just recorded a great pod, and I gotta say ... solar and batteries are going to win. They are the main dish. Everything else is a side dish. In 10 years, you won't be able to find anyone who disagrees with this.

“Transport advocate @connorsharp.bsky.social compiled a decade's worth of business case work [in] an attempt to revive the idea of a cheaper form of surface light rail through the Auckland isthmus.” Fair to say, if not for Connor’s efforts, this crucial route likely *wouldn’t even be on the list* 🤯
