What I'm saying is - these kind of laws USUALLY are made less extreme in the process between first proposal and ratifying them. But that does not happen automatically. I've already signed the petition to at least do SOMETHING about it. If we want our voices to be heard we need to express them!

The final implementation of that copyright directive didn't have those originally feared "worst case"-consequences (certainly, as I believe, due to the massive backlash following the original plans). The so-called "terror-filters" also didn't happen as originally feared.

I'm still optimistic though that this current proposal is the absolute worst case and that in the process of getting this approved this will be watered down a lot. Remember the whole article 13 thing many years ago, with claims that the EU wanted to "ban memes?"
