I can't believe I get to be even a small part of this magazine -- it's a dream come true. Thank you so much to Samantha and @memoirmixtapes.bsky.social for all the love you pour into this, and for including my piece in this beautiful issue. www.memoirmixtapes.com/volumes/12-i...

I keep meaning to post a picture of these adorable tiny vases made by @melostrom.bsky.social! I’m so obsessed with the beautiful colors!

There are now 279 lit mags and small presses on this list (which is NOT a starter pack) - you can follow the list (pin it)-without following all the accounts and it becomes a feed/tab. Please share (it's the biggest list so far) bsky.app/profile/laco... #litmags #litmag

I knew I'd love this book, but this poem just destroyed me. @toddedillard.bsky.social needs to give a class on how to end a poem, and this is a prime example of why.
Arts and Crafts with the Addict's Son

One time I came home from school to a bedroom painted halfway two shades of blue, rollers beached in azure-scabbed trays, lidless quarts of midnight and noon separating from their water like souring cups of milk, my mother sprawled on the floor, her hands two lilies powdered with moonlight. But there was beauty too: my mother, high up on a ladder, nailing her wedding dress to a tree, divorce papers twitching in the yard like chickens pecking feed. For years the nailheads sparkled at night, bespoke constellations as the grackles harvested the dress for nest-scraps and a dozen Texan summers chewed through stitch and seam with their 92 jagged teeth. If there is to be any truth in beauty I can't just speak about suffering as if there isn't some good in suffering too.

As the coyote becomes mud for zinnias, so can these McDonald's receipts become a moon, greased napkins a banquet of clouds, crusted daubs of glitter glue every guiding star. A thousand miles from my origin my origin remains why I promise when I blue, I will completely blue. I will show you how you can make a sky out of anything.

Um. You guys. Some news. I earned out on this book! I'm getting my first royalty check EVER. Thanks to everyone who's bought a copy, requested it @ their library, told people about it, has it on a future list, is buying it for family & friends for the holidays (books make great gifts!) etc.

Do you write stories between 1000 and 3000 words? We've been receiving fewer submissions in our Fiction category lately, so it's a good time to hit us up. We're open for free subs until the end of November & for Tip Jar subs until Dec 15. Thank you! buff.ly/32k496o

My story collection I'M NOT HUNGRY BUT I COULD EAT centers messy queer Puerto Rican men, their desires and pursuits of emotional satiation. But most of all it's a love letter to my twenties, all those long lonely nights and the brief sparks of connection found and lost. www.sfwp.com/books/not-hu...

This is still my advice: Become a writer anyway. Fuck it, do it, it won't save you, but it's still a beautiful dream to write novels and short stories and poems and mingle with other dreamers and make art and laugh in the face of death. And writing is constant death. Live más.

I dreamed this book would get me thrown off of X for calling the leader of the Jan. 6, ‘21 insurrection a despot. But the power of poetry today doesn’t seem to be what it was in revolutionary Russia. So I quit X myself & found my way here! Let’s make poetry powerful again! eastridgereview.com/store/

Hi if you’re new here and new to me, I published a weird fiction novel last year with @malarkeybooks.bsky.social called Thunder From a Clear Blue Sky. That’s an awesome title and the cover is amazing, so the novel doesn’t even have to be any good.
Novel cover. A blue/black sky with leopards on the prowl and even one on the moon.
