Globally, 1.3 million people are brutally killed every year from traffic violence. If any other product, appliance, mobility innovation, or medical device resulted in 1.3m deaths, it would be instantly recalled, eliminated, and investigated. We have the solutions; we need political courage.

Current State of Glaciers Around The World Graph: GLOBAL cumulative mass change of reference glaciers. *Global reference glaciers with more than 30 continued observation years. 1/2 #ClimateChange #GlobalWarming #Glacier World Glacier Monitoring Service (WGMS) LEARN: wgms.ch/global-glaci...
Figure 2: Cumulative mass change of reference glaciers. Cumulative values relative to 1992 are given on the y-axis in the unit meter water equivalent (m w.e.).

Since 1950, the cumulative glacier mass loss of global reference glaciers as displayed in the graph above was more than 30 m w.e. The observed glaciers were close to steady states during the 1960s followed by increasingly strong ice loss until present. The strong increase of the ice loss rates in each decade until present (over diminishing glacier surface areas) leaves no doubt about ongoing climate change and sustained forcing, even if a part of the observed acceleration trend is likely to be caused by positive feedback processes (e.g. surface lowering, glacier disintegration).

These plots show the evolution of indices based on area-averaged monthly-mean sea-surface temperature anomaly computed over specified regions of the tropical Pacific and the Indian Ocean (respectively, NINO 1+2, 3, 3.4, and 4, and the two poles of the Indian Ocean Dipole: 10N-10S,50E-70E and 0-10S, 90E-110E). For the tropical Pacific (NINO) regions both the traditional and a relative index are available. In the case of each provider, data is from the current version of the operational seasonal forecast system.
