I like the sound of that. I haven't really gone deep into hex and counter games. The last I played was Downfall, which I really liked, but also wrestled to get the rules into my brainbox. Spent a lot of time in the rules trying to remember how things worked. Temped by your description here.

I want to speak a bit more on this particular tool so I'll end with a video. This could apply to any efficiency you're offered in your creative process. They're not all bad, but if you don't question their effect on you or others, you might unintentionally find yourself somewhere you didn't intend.

When I get comments from viewers, I'm served auto-generated replies I can use with one-click (as opposed to typing something personally back to you). Will you know the difference? Not likely. But I will. I believe that matters. I want that to matter, even if typing a reply personally is inefficient.

Using these tools might tell me how to gain more clicks, but it cannot know (and therefore cannot care) about my personal fulfillment and purpose. If I don't feed my purpose (and instead get slowly pulled away from it), I'll get hollowed out over time.

I can 'tell' the rules quickly. 'Teaching' rules takes longer and teaching is my purpose, not getting a click. I'm thankful for the time people spend with my videos, but if I have to sacrifice my purpose to get it, I don't want it. The click does not get me up in the morning - teaching games does.
