An 8 page thread. Concludes with a personal video. "AI" moderating, replies, content and other features run contrary to what gets me excited to wake up and make videos. I have strong reservations about most of these features. The A/B edit testing especially: www.youtube.com/watch?v=e1q-...

Unlike my first post, I now feel like I have some idea what I’m doing. “some”. This was a fun endeavour. I always loved my mom and mom-in-laws apple pies. Wanted to carry the traditional forward, so that inspired these attempts. Appreciated their tips along the way.

I love when Phil gets new neighbours. These ones came wearing a very formal bib. Maybe Phil appreciated that they came dressed for the occasion.

I think we have a newly named visitor. It’s hard to pick a favourite bird song, but this is certainly up there. Allow me to introduce Goldie:

Bird update. Phil makes an unannounced appearance.

I have yet to find a more punk bird than the Belted Kingfisher. This is a sourced pic, but I’ve seen these around the property - they move fast.

A little bickering between these two this morning.

By the way, the bird on the right is ALSO a purple finch, which is not at all purple. Bird namers are trolls. Who are they, and how do we fire them?

Two purple finches that are not at all purple

I take issue with its name, not its beauty. Terribly bashful though.

I adore Oscar Peterson's music and hearing him talk about his craft with a fellow musician just elevated this interview. Whether you're into jazz or not, art and music as a subject that can transcend personal tastes. Worth a watch if you have the time www.youtube.com/watch?v=BFNs...

I saw an infographic a couple years ago about how to remove source identifiers from links and why it's important, but I can't find it again and too many people I know are sending me links with them so here's an infographic straight from the oven

Header text: "HEY YOU! YES YOU! TAKE THIS SHIT OUT OF LINKS!"

This is followed by a couple example urls, with a red square highlighting the sections with source identifiers. The rest of the text is as follows:

Source identifiers are used to track your activity on a site. Where you came from, what device you use, and even who you talk to. Whether it's written clearly in the url or tied to a random string of characters, it's assigned to your activity.

When you send a link containing a source identifier to somebody and they click it, it signals to the website that you two are connected. And that data goes right back to the website operators, and thus their advertisers.

Whenever you select "share" or "copy link" on a social app or website, it creates a link like this. If you give even the smallest shit about online privacy, it's important to remove them. Everything after the "?" symbol can be removed without issue, especially sections starting with "si=" or "utm_source="

Well, I've watched more anime this year than I ever have in my life. This wasn't hard, as Death Note was the only anime I had ever watched previously (and half a season of Avatar) - but still, this was a lot! Next up: continuing Gundam ZZ and going to start Neon Genesis Evangelion!
