Surprised I haven't seen more of this chart from Anthropic's www.anthropic.com/institute/ec... (well, semi surprised - when a wave of doom debate hits it tends to drown out all else 🙄) "In all scenarios, ordinary workers get _zero_ of any AI-driven economic growth" is, um, striking!

"We don't usually see each other's banners. Here's mine! Quote with yours!"
My banner and profile page. It shows my avatar superimposed over my banner, then my bio/intro text. My avatar is my face in a circle with a white background and diagonal stripes in bi pride flag colors, pink, purple and blue, behind me. My face is that of a bald, middle-aged white guy. I'm wearing an earring and a black t-shirt.

The banner is a photo of the Bay Lights, which is a dynamic light-based art installation on the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge. It's zillions of high-powered white LEDs mounted on the vertical cables that hang from the main, catenary cables and support the roadway. You can't tell in a still photo, but the lights change in intensity to create ever-shifting patterns and designs.

The bio text says I have 127 followers, 53 following, and 262 posts. Then comes the stuff I wrote:

It's really sad to see #Carney stans spreading outside of Canada. People, please understand: he's a neoliberal. He wants to reset the world to the economic system that opened the door to fascism to begin with. He happens to have a good speechwriter and is "normal shaped." Do not get attached.

There is going to come a time in your life when you are chatting with a guy, at a barbecue or something, a new coworker maybe, a dad at school drop off, and he tells you he used to be in ICE. You’re going to need to spit on that guy

It is *far* more interesting to ask why non-compete clauses are now inserted into the contracts of people working fast-food. There was no "trade secret" to selling sandwiches; there is tactic of trapping workers in crap jobs.

Never forget, our politics are "polarized" because the right has been sliding towards fascism for twenty years, and now it's *arrived* there. If anything, the centre and liberals have been dragged *to* the right in the process, and the actual left is now organizing against the fascism. #JustSaying

I feel like today is a good time to remind ourselves that dictators aren't, by and large, genius masterminds. They're thugs who lived lives without consequence and so become convinced that they can't lose, and a certain kind of authoritarian will bow down to them. What they are not is *smart*.

When Charlie Kirk died, his detractors celebrated his death, while his supporters tried to keep people from speaking about his life and work in any but the vaguest terms. When Jane Goodall died, people mourned her death, and celebrated her life and works. Don't be like Charlie. Be like Jane.

You know what I'd like to see in a reaction video some time? "A psychologist reacts to _Inception_." Like, there's a whole lot of stuff in there about working with or against the subject's own psyche, about daddy issues, identity, etc. I'd love to see what a psychologist had to say about it.

Delving a little deeper into that "3.5% of population to cause change" idea. One key takeaway: it's a description of what's happened in other situations, not necessarily a magic recipe for success. But it's a sometimes-useful guideline. www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025...

In case anyone needs more clarification:

What RFK is saying: "Autistic people can't work, so it's our duty as a society to erase autism" → This is eugenics

Harmful response: "Many autistic people do work!" → Validates the belief that that someone being unable to work is shameful and makes them a lesser person, and implies that autistic people should not need support

Correct response: "Yes, many autistic people can't work, so it's our duty as a society to make sure they are supported, you fascist asshole" → Accepts the realities of disability and values the lives of disabled people, names the actual problem here
