has there ever been a moment where the third way shtick has rung more hollow? I get that the overwhelming asymmetry at play in terms of policy pursuits makes it pretty impossible to thread that tired middle path, but it also makes equivalency in fault and continuing on look ridiculous

we actually have an opposite example in power markets, where PJM and Joe Bowring ended up at loggerheads almost 20 years ago, and the feds eventually sided with the market monitor examples like this are on my mind more and more as tech people have rushed into power (even preceding AI, worse now)

I was also outside wednesday evening in the DMV, although playing soccer, and let me tell you, the actual temperature was a total lie because the humidity was roughly 300%

pulled a few off of the non-fiction shelves in my office to recommend (tbh, I read way, way more fiction than non) 1. The Price of Peace - A Keynes (mostly) bio I quite enjoyed, that also delves into what Keynes wanted societally and how it faded. Also, I didn't know how many famous people he knew

Form raised another $750M, earlier this year they were talking $500M, $2B total now still no operational projects btw, the first one started to get installed last autumn, but paused, "end of 2026" is the current goal afaik, will be about 3 years behind at that point no visible progress elsewhere

Recently bought a car for the first time in ~13 years, and what we encountered was basically resignation that everyone coming in and buying an Ioniq 5 at the time was qualifying for 0% financing so there was no leverage after we said what car we wanted they went and got it then left us alone

It was a really bad air day for DC. A pollution double whammy. Not only did smoke pollution reach code purple (very unhealthy) levels this AM and hover at code red this PM, but ground-level ozone, another pollutant, spiked to code red this afternoon. This is not something we can remember seeing.
