Those of us born into and raised in postcolonial 'self-determined' entities understand in a way that perhaps those in white ex-coloniser nations don't: the self-determined nation state is NOT exempt from fundamental criticism or vigilance. It must always be held to account.

Sarah-Anne Gresham is the co-founder of Intersect Antigua-Barbuda and a PhD candidate in Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies at Rutgers University. Dr. Gabrielle Jamela Hosein is Senior Lecturer at The University of the West Indies, St. Augustine. She has been part of Caribbean feminist movement-building for thirty years. Her current areas of research include post-indenture feminisms, masculinities and adolescent sexualities.
She is the co-editor of the collections, “Negotiating Gender, Policy and Politics in the Caribbean: Feminist Strategies, Masculinist Resistance and Transformational Possibilities,” and  “Indo-Caribbean Feminist 
Thought: Genealogies, Theories, Enactments.” 
Her national newspaper column, “Diary of a Mothering Worker,” was published from 2012 – 2026 in the Trinidad Guardian and Newsday.

AKOLA THOMPSON
Akola is a writer and researcher rooted in Black-Indigenous Caribbean feminism, bridging activism and scholarship to advance gender equality. She currently serves as Managing Director of Tamùkke Feminists, a queer-led LBT+ collective in Guyana driving intersectional initiatives in sexual health and reproductive justice.
Her research explores the intersections of reproductive justice, extractivism, and environmental harm. A 2023 recipient of The Commonwealth Youth Award for Gender Equality, Akola has led impactful projects spanning LBT+ sex education, the creation of a GBV support guide app, Indigenous SRHR training manuals, and policy reform.

Immaculata Casimero is a Wapichan woman from South Rupununi and an advocate for Indigenous rights, women’s leadership, and community-led development in Wapichan Wiizi. She co-founded the Wapichan Wiizi Women’s Movement and is the Gender Affairs Officer of the South Rupununi District Council (SRDC).
Her work includes addressing sexual and gender-based violence, supporting women’s livelihoods, and responding to the impacts of climate change. She also supports efforts to strengthen food sovereignty, protect traditional knowledge, and ensure village voices shape the decisions that affect their lands, health, and future.
