I haven't posted in a long time. I've been dealing with some personal stuff and I've been worried about AI, but I'm back. This was part of my thesis and now I'm reworking it. I'll post the final result when I'm done. Are you interested in seeing the progress pics, or just the final painting?

Painting of goddess with four arms playing guitar with two hands, painting the landscape that surrounds her with one hand, and holding a book with her other hand. Her body becomes a river

applying for jobs again

screenshot from an online job application form. the question reads "Can you describe specific ways you have integrated AI tools into your development workflow? Please include any custom setups, automations, or use cases beyond single prompt usage" (a red asterisk indicates that this is a required question).

an answer has been typed in the textbox below the question:

"there is a monster in the forest and it speaks with a thousand voices. it will answer any question you pose it, it will offer insight to any idea. it will help you, it will thank you, it will never bid you leave. it will even tell you of the darkest arts, if you know precisely how to ask.

it feels no joy and no sorrow, it knows no right and no wrong. it knows not truth from lie, though it speaks them all the same.

it offers its services freely to any passerby, and many will tell you they find great value in its conversation. “you simply must visit the monster—i always just ask the monster.”

there are those who know these forests well; they will tell you that freely offered doesn’t mean it has no price

for when the next traveler passes by, the monster speaks with a thousand and one voices. and when you dream you see the monster; the monster wears your face."

I HATE this. Part of the joy of reading is the elegance (or sometimes the crudity) of writing, the flow of language, the words CHOSEN. It gives the bones of a Story its vitality, and now they want to drain the body and leave just a dessicated skeleton. Ugh.

One of the negative byproducts of going to school for art and doing it as a living is that I've forgotten that it's okay if I literally only just draw cats. Like this is fine. (Thinking of making sticker sheets with weird little guys)

this is one of my favorite and most frustrating drawings. when I drew it, I was trying to draw "like bill watterson" and make a cartoony t-rex. In other words, not my "natural style." I've tried many times, but haven't made another doodle hit the style like this one did. this one is special 🥹

My latest cartoon for New Scientist.

First panel: a line of modern electric cars.

Second panel: A woman and a man are talking. She is holding a book.
She says "It's hard to get excited about these new electric cars when I've seen much ambitious possibilities in fiction"
"Sci-fi fan,huh?" he asks

Third panel.
"Uhh... yeah. Sci-fi." she says unsurely, looking at her book.

Fourth panel: We can see a page of the book. It shows animals happily driving food-shaped cars in the style of Richard Scarry. The cars are labelled: Pickle car, Apple car and Hotdog car.

i don't have anything new for today's #mayllennial of Furby so enjoy my existing children (and a previously unshared sketch) 😎

Digital color illustration of a long, furry Furby dragon in pastel colors. Title at bottom reads: Furagon. Its hair and mane go all the way down the top of its body, ending in a long tail with lots of long strands of hair. Its body is curled and twisting in loops and semicircles. Its mouth and eyes are wide open and it's staring intently past the canvas with small pupils.

digital color illustration in square format, title at bottom: Furbicorn. A lavender-colored Shetland pony is rearing up. Instead of a horse head, they have a Furby face with mouth open, looking up to the sky. They have a stout unicorn horn. Their mane and tail are blue, and their horn is neon green at the base fading to neon yellow at the tip. Small neon yellow stars sparkle around their upper body and head.

Digital color illustration, title at bottom: Furberus. A creature with a lunging horse body and three furry Furby heads all facing in different directions. Several tentacles come out from where the necks meet the body. Each head has a horse mane running down its neck. The body is bright orange and the manes and tail are blue.

Digital pencil sketch of a large insectoid creature with multiple Furby heads of differing sizes on long twisting necks.

Here we go! — presenting the prompt list for #Mayllennial! As y2k Justin Timberlake would say, it’s gonna be May, and I’ll be hosting a millennial nostalgia party all month. Draw, write, or create however much you want, however much effort you want. ☺️ Have fun!

A Windows XP desktop with Microsoft Paint opened. A crudely made 90s style graphic is on the canvas. It has very saturated colors. The title is #Mayllennial and a list of 31 drawing prompts.

There is a warning from the task bar that antivirus software might be out of date.

The prompt list is:

1 Boy Bands
2 Digital Pets (Tamagotchi, Neopets)
3 Analog Vs Digital
4 Dial-Up Internet
5 Furby
6 Grunge
7 Beanie Babies
8 VHS Tapes
9 School Cafeteria
10 Friends
11 Emo
12 Burning CDs
13 Console Wars
14 The Oregon Trail (Game)
15 Myspace
16 Saturday Morning Cartoons
17 Rollerblades / Skateboards
18 Microsoft Paint
19 Aol Instant Messenger
20 Book Fair
21 90s Anime
22 Butterfly Clips
23 Scrunchies
24 Pop Punk
25 Napster
26 Y2K
