Francis Crozier reclines fetchingly on the Arctic shale on his side posed like Dr lan Malcolm with one arm resting on his raised bent knee but in full battered-looking cold weather naval slops and with a little sun protector tucked under his hat. Somebody else is bending down next to him and a few other people are milling around in the background. The eternal reminder:

The fellas over at the Air Force base by my house have been flying their F35s around all day in the slowest loop-de-loops I ever seen em make. Turns out they’re still loud as all gitout going slow, they’re just loud as all gitout for longer 🫠

Found the email I sent when I got accidentally added to the faculty listserv of an orthopedic surgery clinic and nobody would remove me so I sent this email to all faculty/staff/med students and they removed me almost immediately
Hello Bone Colleagues,
I have invented a new type of ankle and I'm very excited to show it to you. Early raccoon trials suggest a 60% increase in scurrying speed and dramatic increases in fine motor banditry. I know we are not supposed to create super raccoons, but I think you'll change your mind and professional ethics when you see how cute they are. I believe we are on the cusp of a new era in advanced human scurrying because if medical science has taught me anything, it's that improvements in raccoons correspond 1:1 to improvements in humans.

Haven’t posted about this project in a month apparently but we’re nearing the finish line now 😬
An overhead shot of some sewing-related items laid out on a butcher block countertop. You can see a navy blue wool sleeve lined with blue silk, and a pointed mariner’s cuff flap waiting to be set into it, alone with assorted bits, bobs, and notions like silk thread, beeswax, a leather thimble, tiny scissors on a handwoven tape, gold braid trim, and a copy of Amy Miller’s book “DRESSED TO KILL: British Naval Uniform, Masculinity and Contemporary Fashions 1748-1857”

Hair got a lil long I guess
A mirror selfie of a heavily tattooed women wearing obnoxiously oversized bellbottom jeans, a cutoff Alan Jackson tee, a backwards ball cap and pink heart-shaped sunglasses. She’s got an absolute fuckload of long wavy red hair, like so long she probably sits on it or gets it caught in her seatbelt all the time. Real “Cousin It” kinda vibes.

call me when there's an AI agent onto which i can offload my chronic sense of dread that just around the next corner is an existentially important task i've forgotten to do that's about to bite me in the ass. i am not interested in models which require me to turn the dread into tasks myself

Yessss the new versions are SO nice. I don’t have this volume yet, it’s earlier than my typical era; I’m usually a 1730s-1810s girly. But eventually I’d love to own all of them! I use the ones I do have CONSTANTLY.

Posting the dumbest niche meme I’ve ever made here, probably exclusively for @norfolkology.bsky.social and nobody else
An edited version of the Predator Handshake meme, showing two extremely buff arms labeled “nor’easter” and “king tide” clasping hands in the center of the frame. The whole image has been edited to look like it’s underwater, and where the hands are joined, the words “hampton roads” have been crappily edited into a snorkel to look all wavy and watery. The snorkel sticks up out of the top of the frame, making it look extra goofy.

This is why I have to put salt-tolerant plants ONLY in the lower half of my garden 😂 second photo is a birdbath!! ON A PEDESTAL.
A closer photo of a very flooded and somewhat unkempt late-summer garden. The water is fully inundating several of the garden beds, reaching close to 8 feet further up into the garden past the now-invisible river wall that is supposed to be a barrier A second photo of the flooded garden, showing a concrete birdbath. You can tell from the shape that it’s one of those raised pedestal types, real classic birdbath shape, but the pedestal is completely covered by water and the birdbath just looks like a concrete bowl floating on the surface

This morning’s tidal flooding on the left (over an hour after high tide!! It got way higher!), vs how it normally looks on the right love to live in one of the areas most susceptible to sea level rise… that is ALSO an area where the ground is literally sinking due to centuries of aquifer depletion
A photo of a suburban backyard with a large body of water running through it. The water level is very high, and if you didn’t know it, you wouldn’t even realize there’s supposed to be a concrete riverwall there. The water is about a foot over the wall, when normally it is 1-3 feet below the wall. Another photo of the same backyard on a different day. In this photo you can see the normal water level at about two hours past high tide. Here, it is about 4 feet below the now-visible concrete riverwall.

It’s so pretty 😭😭😭 here it is next to some (pretty nice quality!) mylar trim from my stash on the right — the wire braid is just so much more lustrous and smooth, camera doesn’t do her justice at all probably gonna be a nightmare to hand-stitch but beauty is pain lol
A close-up of the beautiful gold wire braid trim that weighs over a pound, held next to a standard Mylar gold trim that is still pretty nice, but compared to the real thing on the left it looks inferior for sure

For my birthday this year I treated myself to some very nice gold wire braid trim that finally arrived today I don’t know why I wasn’t prepared for the HEFT of this stuff, it’s literally made of metal, but it WEIGHS OVER A POUND. just me and my absolute fuckin slab of trim over here
A photo of about 25 yards of gold wire mariner-style braided trim, tightly rolled into a small roll about 5.5” across. It looks like a very pretty shiny gold satin ribbon at first glance, until you realize that it’s sitting on a kitchen scale that reads a honkin’ 1.144 LB
