IMO you really only learn the important bits about architecture, DRY, YAGNI, and so on by fucking up, realizing your code is horrible to edit, and refactoring. The issue is that AI lets you just vibe like crazy and those pain points aren't felt until they're thousands of times worse.

My argument is that this is fine - we are rich and can afford to make this sacrifice. It's dangerous to base arguments for redistribution around the idea that most people will be net winners, especially in places with an extremely large and wealthy middle class.

I thought we all understood this in the year 2026, but in general quality of goods increases with price, but price increases much faster. There may be a point where you can “save by spending” but it’s typically a lot closer to the bottom of the range than the top.
