Poetry month is my favorite time of the year because I love getting a contact high off everyone's creative energy. Who is doing a 30/30 for Poetry Month?

“What Reddit does… is give ppl a space that they can create + collectively control, and where they can ask one another question after question after question, in every possible permutation… But the only 2 ?s that ppl ever really ask on Reddit, if you think abt it, are these: Am I alone? Am I okay?”

“Reach up from your mere bones” A poem by Rachel Abramowitz.
Waking Ruin

By Rachel Abramowitz

Keep close to mirrors, says wolf.
Reach up from your mere bones toward
the bile-black night, says beetle.

What a naive bunch, says a thing
passing through the garden on hind legs,
boiling in a dream. I've got a sweet tangle

for you, okay, it plants grasses like you wouldn't
believe. (I'm on quiet fire in this garden,
the rosemary nips at me, the insects sniff

behind my ears.) Listen, lie here, under
this hedge, let it cover you like a nightgown.
(Inside the jar of my head, such a three-

headed lion!) I subtract you (worm of my speech),
unhook your eyelids, lay still as a cabbage.
(The trees know me.) (Reader, they know me.)

Hi poetry fiends (not a typo), who is celebrating poetry month with a 30/30? I always try one and i's one of my favorite things. (also interested in any of your plans to read specific amounts of poetry or certain books. Basically I am saying: please talk to me about poetry and with your poems)

Ash Wednesday
A parody of the "friendship ended" meme; the text says, "Friendship ended with Mardi Gras. Now Halloween is my best friend." I'm standing on the right, shaking hands with my eyeball creature costume on the left. In the lower left and right are two smaller pictures of my gargoyle Mardi Gras costume from this year, with big X's crossing them out.

Not sure if it was my mouse or keyboard or google's unwanted AI angel, but it deleted my poem one letter at a time, quickly. I could get an older version that still had everything but needed to redo some editing.

We played Civ 7 for a couple hours last night and I think the new system will be okay. I am glad it is different because I kind of felt like I was doing the same thing every time I played a game of Civ 6.

“It’s enough to know the moon is gone” A poem by Caroline Crew.
THE FACE OF ALL THE WORLD IS CHANGED

It is a blue planet & I admit
I don't fully understand the mechanics of tides:

it's enough to know the moon is gone
replaced with a name I never stop repeating,

repeating. Sweet with me,
translate empire as small pebble,

keep these old songs rhythmic.
Home is only ever a string of numbers.

That anyone can decode this system
means they are living on your exhaled air.

“I want to take your kindness and put it in my hair.” A poem by Kathleen Ossip.
Mother's Day

I had no mother, I required none.

I believed in mothers like I believed in the pyramids.

They were complicated too. Monumental but hollow. Dusty but beautiful.
Mathematical and confusing. Birth, I believed,

was the brilliant upheaval. Now I see Death is another.

When I think of mother,

you are the image I think of, like a sun. I mean that

I'm not supposed to make friends in a poem, which should be mathematical
and confusing, You are not my mother. I required none. You are a friend who
couldn't help but mother

and now a mass blocks the sun. I want to take your kindness and put it in my hair.

The image is dead! Long live the sensation.

Kris and I went on separate walkruns today at the park and I liked walking and talking together but when we do this separately, it is great for mind wandering thinking. I realized I rarely get to that mind state now.

Besides Twin Peaks, the reason I got an orchid today is because I talked to a patient about orchids and it inspired me to try taking care of one. I got it right before work so I had to bring it into the office. The guy I talked to came in to pick up glasses today so he got to see that I got one.
