Staring, looking uncomfortable, giving me pitying looks, talking down to me... it sucks. It's dehumanizing. I have an implant to regulate spinal fluid and I'm on blood thinners - I didn't get lobotomized for God's sake. ...yeah, there's just a bunch of stuff eating at me, that's all. 😕

It'll be my first birthday without my sibling, whose struggle with mental illness has caused them to push away almost every loved one in their life, most recently me. I wish there was something I could do to help them, but at this point there isn't. I just hope they can get the help they need.

I'm turning 34 tomorrow, and while I don't want to be a big downer, I think it's going to be my toughest birthday to get through. This summer is the 5-year anniversary of my Grandma Marge's death, which has been hitting me pretty hard. I loved her dearly - I miss her and my grandpa every day.

I realized last night just how many times I've been close to death in the past 5 years, and I just felt... so empty about it. Had a good cry about feeling empty, not necessarily about the whole "close to death" thing. ... I wish I could afford therapy. 🫩

I work in education and am frequently in centers similar to this. There are strict safety procedures that these centers are required by state law to follow. Keeping the doors unlocked and letting in unauthorized people so they can "see the children" are high on the list of things NOT to do.

The ad in question featured a brief segment in which someone gets shot in the head with an arrow, impaling them and sticking them to a tree, complete with blood spatter and a full visual of the arrow going through the head. I was in complete shock and disbelief that this was in a YT teaser.
