States monopolize federal transportation funding even though local and regional governments oversee most of our nation's roads. It's time for that to change, a new bill argues. buff.ly/mRai7Sg

We've seen an overall increase in capital investment by the federal government in ground transportation since the 2021 Infrastructure and Jobs Act was passed. But bad news: that spending is concentrated among highway projects, not public transit and rail. buff.ly/cvfhmi3

New York City's proposed daylighting law "isn’t anti-driver; it’s pro-visibility, pro-safety, and frankly, pro-common sense," republican councilman Frank Morano argues. And it will also help NYC catch up with communities across the country.

Lori Markowitz's son, Josh, was killed by a driver traveling 100mph on a residential street. A vehicle technology called "Intelligent Speed Assist" could have saved his life—and several states are introducing bills to put it on reckless drivers' cars. buff.ly/JmoTuwI

Our colleagues at @chi.streetsblog.org have about $23K to raise. If you'd like to boost their campaigns to bridge the Windy City's looming transit fiscal cliff, lower the speed limit, and build a low-stress bike network, you can chip in here. Thanks! chi.streetsblog.org/about/donate

Which vehicle is more worthy of a federal electric vehicle subsidy — the electric one (left) that still has a huge carbon footprint or the electric one (right) that actually reduces driving and lowers our carbon footprint?
