It's revealing that the most toxic criticisms I get are around things that don't really matter (maths, theories) and the least toxic, most constructive criticisms I get are around things that matter a great deal (war, health)

This patron is the bane of my life
A blurred, colorful YouTube patron credit roll with two columns of white names outlined in red. Among the many names are Eoth Cassidy, Daniel Montgomery, Antoinette Triani, Max Auwarter, Ricardo Aguilera, Pavel Callado, Connor Barham, Vanessa Andrews, and Robinson Vought. A line of overlaid text reads, “Anonymous ethicist, not a serial killer,” with another partially obscured line ending in “just asking.”

I don't usually just share other peoples' posts, but this may be the best tweet I've ever seen
Screenshot of an X post by Ben Landau-Taylor (@benlandautaylor). The post reads: “Outsider: I have investigated this academic field and found that it is mostly fake. Insider: This essay adds nothing to the discourse. All of these so-called ‘problems’ are discussed in Hamilton and Schwartz’s ‘Our Entire Field Is Mostly Fake’ (2009). You absolute buffoon.” The post shows 174K views and engagement counts of 25 replies, 322 reposts, 3.8K likes, 421 bookmarks, and a share icon.

That is...quite an impressive pitch for your AI assistant, Trainline!
A screenshot of the Trainline Travel Assistant Beta welcome screen. At the top, a large bold heading reads “Travel Assistant” with a “Beta” badge in a rounded rectangle to the right. Below, centered text states: “This Travel Assistant is powered by AI and its content may be surprising or inaccurate. Please don’t input sensitive information like credit card or phone numbers.” A thin horizontal divider line appears near the bottom of the screen. The interface has a clean white background with dark gray text.

Many opponents of high taxes, like Dan Niedle, have pointed out that higher tax rates on the rich don't translate into higher revenue. But another role they play is in reducing pre-tax incomes of higher earners and (ideally) rent-seeking behaviour.

Anakin says "I'm a PNG, you can download me". Padme responds "And you're transparent right?" The next panel is Anakin's supposedly transparent background overflowing into Padme's fourth panel.

With LLMs I think a key tell - one that's kind of subtle - is that they generally don't/can't go back and correct existing wording. So they have to add new text if they've forgotten something. "That's a sharp question. Your second question also deserves answering."

That's not what I said though, is it? I asked why they were reporting the things Trump said *plainly*, as if they were credible and didn't change every hour. Most of what he says is noise and responsible reporting means pricing that in. bsky.app/profile/masb...

I'm not sure why the BBC main headlines continue plainly reporting the things Trump says. Seriously, I want to know what it is! Is it fear of his threats? 'Impartiality'? Extremely dry sarcasm?
A BBC news graphic shows Donald Trump in a dark blue suit and tie speaking and gesturing with one hand while seated indoors, with a U.S. flag visible in the background. The headline reads: “Trump may release US-Iran deal before Friday, Vance says.” A subheadline states that the U.S. vice president says the agreement is “about a page and a half” and “very general,” with many details to be worked out later.
