Book #7 Artemis Fowl Eoin Colfer Wanted something easy to get back into a regular reading habit, so revisited a childhood favorite. It’s a pretty fun take on magic/fairies/goblins etc but I think I mostly liked it as a kid because the main character reminded me of Ken Ichijoji from Digimon 02.

I used to think it was dumb that every corporation in horror fiction tried to build the 'ultimate predator' or organism, as though that were a viable business model. All those engineered monsters are just going to destroy everything! Today, I get it. It's the most realistic part of those stories.

The timing of this kind of press is intentional. How are they going to make these games when Bethesda and Obsidian collectively laid off hundreds? Don’t fall for it.

Yeah this feels kinda misleading

JOGA stresses that this report relates only to domestic (Japanese) games that are “played via the internet regardless of device”. It doesn’t include console or PC games, nor does it include mobile games that are standalone offline experiences which don’t let users connect online.

4 mounts are corralled. 3 are larger than the other. A moose on the left, a horse in the front, and a camel in the back left. All next to the smaller elk mount in the back right. All are fully laden with packs, sadles, and such.

Alright i gotta talk about how they MURDERED the speed stat but still left in tools that increase it for essentially no noticeable effect. They probably should have removed the stat entirely if they wanted to de-emphasize passive ATB generation.

The speed stat has been kinda shot dead in this game. It only affects PASSIVE ATB generation (what you get over time) and has no effect on active ATB generation (what you get for attacking, blocking, etc).

The formula for passive ATB generation is 50 + (Speed * 0.02) per second.

To simplify, if a character's speed was 0, it would take them 60 seconds to passively generate a full ATB gauge (which maxes out at 3000 ATB). A character needs at least 50 speed to take one full second off that 60 second charge time.

Incidentally, the highest speed stat I ever managed to get is with Tifa wearing every speed increasing tool the game gave me for a total speed stat that barely goes over 100. Her passive ATB then merely takes a full 58 seconds to charge a full gauge.

So uhhh yeah, the speed stat has been essentially rendered meaningless. Even on Tifa you should probably equip anything else that helps with ATB generation instead.

Omega @unitomega.bsky.social · 17/06/2026

I think it really depends on the context. Like, I'm curious to see what a sort of remake of Metal Gear 1 + 2 might look like with modern sensibilities, but also Kojima pretty definitely ended the arc in MGS4 so I don't think they can make a six
