The speed at which the streaming platforms are dropping and deleting shows based on early data makes national, not-for profit, broadcasters so much more important today than in broadcast history. Where will the slow-burn, cult classics of the future come from without them!

People forget NATO operational area includes the North Atlantic (clue’s in the name) up to the US coast, so US is a necessary member, but whilst administratively harder as separate nations there isn’t a US capability Europe can’t reproduce. They have no unique hold on physics.

If the USA hadn’t invaded a sovereign nation, kidnapped their leader (however despicable he is) and threatened a long standing ally, the worlds news agencies would be reporting today on the fifth anniversary of the attack on the US Capitol Building, surely it can’t be linked… 👀

The US’ attack on Europe’s freedom and quality of life has led to so many European accounts uncharacteristically reminding me how much better the continent and individual neighbours are on so many metrics. Safer, freer, healthier, culturally richer… 🎶 God bless the US’E’ 🎶

Ignoring the fact that Russia has repeatedly attacked the Ukrainian leadership, and that it appears to be actual ‘fake news’, the leader of a wartime enemy is a legitimate target that everyone involved should surely have expected?

As we approach the end of the year, 2025 is on track to be one of the UK’s warmest years on record, joining 2022 and 2023 in the top three warmest years. Find out more in our news release 👇 www.metoffice.gov.uk/about-us/new...
A map of the United Kingdom and Ireland showing mean temperature anomalies for 2025 up to 21 December compared to the 1991–2020 average. The map is predominantly shaded in red, indicating warmer-than-average conditions across most of the UK. The colour scale on the right ranges from dark blue (–1.5°C anomaly) through white (0°C) to dark red (+1.5°C anomaly). Almost all regions of the UK are in shades of red, suggesting positive anomalies between about +0.5°C and +1.5°C. The Met Office logo appears at the top left, and text on the map reads: “Mean temperature 2025 until 21 December, 1991–2020 anomaly.”

The vulnerability of the Straight of Hormuz, and movement of one-fifth of the world’s oil and gas, seems like reason enough to supercharge the energy transition, electrify heat and transport, strip generation of fossil fuels and mitigate its relevance.

Nodded to in the Strategic Defence Review, but division is a national security risk. Yes there will always be disagreement on aims and approaches, but creating deliberate division, spreading disinformation or not taking down misinformation when identified is toxic to democracy…

Lady Hale, formerly the Nation’s most senior Judge, makes an important point. In the rush to act, well meaning and disingenuous alike, people make overly cautious or overly bold changes based on a highly technical and limited judgement, both doing harm. After every ruling ask has anything changed.
