I’m at the point where I, on a bone deep level, can’t understand people that see their lives as inherently more valuable than another person’s by virtue of birth/their proximity to your inner circle. I genuinely don’t know if it’s possible to talk any sort of reason into people with no empathy.

Poor people definitionally cannot vote for or against their own interests because there are no politicians actually representing them. There are no positions of influence or power that a poor person can attain and that is on purpose.
