Same with Turner Feature Animation when it got merged into WBFA. And IIRC, WB didn’t want Turner’s film “Cats Don’t Dance” outshining “Quest for Camelot”, so they sabotaged its release… only for the latter to crash and burn with critics and audiences and basically screw WBFA over in the long run.

But this is not to say that they were the only failures at the time. There were others that fell much harder and made bigger bombs than Disney, but the Mouse House got all the attention while the rest that were technologically behind were left mostly forgotten.

Think back when Disney just went through their whole Renaissance and their animated movies were no longer considered as successful as they were in the previous decade. While not all failures, a good amount came out as bombs either critically, financially or both.
