Listening to Decoder with @reckless.bsky.social featuring Cloudflare CEO. Very interesting take on music, I don't know how that guy listens to music. Music isn't a half baked video essay in the background to update your JIRA tickets to.

Sri Lanka’s far-right landscape is changing. For years, its politics were largely shaped by militant Sinhala Buddhist nationalism, mobilizing anxieties around minorities, demographic change, and threats to national culture.

I encounter a lot of text-to-speech advertisements on podcasts, it's funny they half expect me to be surprised that it's a TTS... But it's very clear it's a TTS. Sounds like an incohesive voice coming out of a 20-year-old center speaker which needs to be recapped.

I removed the ceiling fan in the guest bedroom because it was a bit loud and was inefficient. I looked at the manufacturing date and it's nearly 30 years old. Replaced it with a new BLDC fan. I really wonder if this is going to last 30 years.

My dad cries out "Why does this happen to me Jesus" on the slightest inconvenience and in times of distress towards the heavens. Recently I've had a bit of rough patch (I'm okay really, grratful) and I kinda get it. I try doing the same myself, but just giggle to myself. Ah futility of man.

Twice a year, Hawai'i experiences a strange moment where the sun appears to be exactly overhead & anything that is completely vertical casts no shadow. Let's learn about Lāhainā Noon, subsolar points & 'Kau ka lā i ka lolo', meaning "the sun rests on the brains."

From a Reddit forum, a photo of a can of coconut milk with a blue label, papyrus text and a flip-top, on a sidewalk. It seems to hover because there's no visible shadow. The pavement is sort of unevenly colored, with bright spots, and the grass along it is green and lush.

I work with #IEC61508 #safety systems, and some of our colleagues were talking about a contractor that does SIL4 systems who builds tank. We all chuckled that tanks are safety certified, I made a snarky remark the tanks are not SIL4 certified if you're brown. Asked ChatGPT to make a poem for me

Poster which shows a tank and the following text,

SIL4 Certified
Tanks roll forth, with steel-clad grace,
Certified safe for time and place.
SIL4 stamped, the gold elite,
Logic flawless, control complete.
Failsafes guard each twist and turn,
Redundancy in every churn.
Software checked, each byte and bit—
But not who’s crushed beneath it.
For safety’s not just code and steel,
But who gets heard, and who must kneel.
It's not so safe, when truth is brown,
When warnings rise, then get shot down.
So audit more than circuits' hum—
Check the systems we've become.
True safety starts where justice grows,
Not just where certification shows.
