The core appeal of reactionary politics is hatred of competent and smart people who follow evidence rather than use it to support conclusions. A million incidents like this happen daily in academia and legal settings, and they're behind almost all right-wing "liberal bias" accusations.

It’s not “third-country deportation,” it’s an extraordinary rendition, complete with torture and enforced silence by the “host” country’s thugs. And it’s a direct consequence of never imposing punishment on the CIA for doing this during the War on Terror.

Listening to the @pablo.show this morning and the Q was raised why didn't (IIRC) Aspiration start a Kawhi social media account, but this may have implicated Kawhi/Uncle D. in securities fraud whereas never doing anything to promote Aspiration was protective, maybe at K/Uncle D's request? Smart?

Everyone knows what the problem is: The organizations that bring young staffers to Washington, D.C. have spent the last decade prioritizing blind ideological loyalty instead of competence or intelligence,” said a senior GOP congressional staffer, granted anonymity to discuss sensitive personnel issues. “We have a generation of rabid, incompetent idiots.”

Lindsey Graham always struck me as a sad figure. He didn't know - or was afraid to be - who he was, and that manifested itself in so many cruel ways. He'd latch on to whoever gave him a modicum of approval & do their bidding. His self-loathing manifested as hate. Very similar to J.D. Vance.

The first time I went to the Hill was September 2008, when I attended a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing on equal pay for equal work. Lindsey Graham was incensed that they were taking up this issue, and I remember thinking, “Who TF is this schmuck?” I was asking that for the ensuing 18 years.

Steve Schmidt wrote Lindsey Graham's obituary six years ago. www.facebook.com/richlandcoun...
“'People try to analyze Lindsey through the prism of the manifest inconsistencies that exist between things that he used to believe and what he’s doing now,' Schmidt says. 'The way to understand him is to look at what’s consistent. And essentially what he is in American politics is what, in the aquatic world, would be a pilot fish: a smaller fish that hovers about a larger predator, like a shark, living off of its detritus. That’s Lindsey. And when he swam around the McCain shark, broadly viewed as a virtuous and good shark, Lindsey took on the patina of virtue. But wherever the apex shark is, you find the Lindsey fish hovering about, and Trump’s the newest shark in the sea. Lindsey has a real draw to power — but he’s found it unattainable on his own merits.'”
