Read this again when someone tells you that the democrats are gearing up to go transphobic or don’t fight for us.

Do they settle because it costs a lot of money to litigate? Because they're at risk of losing federal funding? What are the ways that the Justice Department is able to coerce these hospitals?
Rep. Grace Meng: I mean, all of the above, right? I'm the top Democrat on the Appropriations
subcommittee that oversees all the DOJ funding. And we have seen this as we've been negotiating our budgets with them. They tried to include over 50 anti-GBTQ riders, what we call poison pills, into the budget. And we, as House Democrats, were able to take them all out. But they wanted to insert 52 pieces of wording and legislation that would have restricted medically necessary health care for transgender people, basically allowing taxpayer-funded discrimination against same-sex couples, blocking any non-discriminatory and DEl-type efforts.
But they are persistent, so they try it through the budget process, and they can't do that. Obviously, they're trying to cheat by coercing these hospitals:
