We wanted a comfortable margin for the shoot, not a statement about who belongs on a bike or who belongs in our ads. Should have led with that from the start instead of just dropping numbers into a casting call. That's completely on me.

I'm sorry. The size ranges in that casting call needed more context and I should have provided it upfront. Our bike has a 397 lb maximum gross vehicle weight (MGVW). Factor in the bike, a kid, a dog, and cargo, and the math gets real pretty fast.

Bookmark this post for the next time someone says "bike infrastructure is ableist." Dutch bike infrastructure, in the form of wide, multiuse paths, is used by countless disabled people every day. They use the same paths as bicyclists, and are safer than on our broken American sidewalks.
