iron ore processing, active first part of the 20th century. these kilns improved the ore quality by some added carbon magic. the small mines were active mid 19th-mid 20th c. near Segura, Spain in Basque country.

giant 2-story kilns. ore and a bit of coal goes in the top, better ore comes out the bottom in a continuous process.
