A lot of the adjustments that we can make to therapy practice in order to become neurodivergence-affirming would actually benefit ALL clients. For example - clear communication - consistent boundaries - no assumptions about the meaning of communication differences - choices over seating/environment

I really don't know if getting involved in AI in academia conversations is a terrible idea, but here I am anyway... My take is that I don't think dealing with AI use by students is that big a deal. I get lots of students using ChatGPT at the moment because it is new and they think it will be easy..

I was just saying to the husband this morning that the decision I made a couple of years ago to just quietly not go to work Christmas or other team celebration events has significantly improved my wellbeing and relationship with work. It has removed a huge chunk of stress by just not going.

Thoughts based purely on my own experiences of working in primary care mental health and a personal history of trying to access talking therapy. The types of therapy that are available are very limited and not appropriate for many people. Waiting times are variable but often quite long...

I was recently having a conversation about making staff put pronouns in their signatures. I don't generally share my pronouns in this way as I just can't conceptualise my gender in such fixed and stationary terms. It's only talking to other autistic people that I have met others who get this feeling

The delays to DSA have been a big issue for our disabled students who are waiting up to a full semester without the tools and support they need. This means having to complete assignments, exams, attend lectures while facing huge disadvantages. The support team can only do so much to fill this gap.

I am suddenly obsessed with binge watching anti-mlm videos on YouTube. I just can't seem to help myself. Who knew there were so many people selling so much nonsense to so many other people who then sell the same nonsense to more people until the whole world is selling imaginary pills to each other 🤯

We quite literally do! Article 22 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights states that everyone has the right to social security and support for dignity & free development of their personality. I’ve written to The Telegraph to state this very thing.
A screenshot of a headline from the Telegraph website. The headline reads: “Tom Harris: People do not have a human right to receive benefits paid for by others.” Below it, there is a subheading stating: “Inaction will mean a chronic and permanent imbalance in the relationship between what the state pays out and what it receives in tax revenue.” Below the text, there are engagement icons showing 226 comments and sharing options.

Hark, the mournful cry of the academic in their natural seminar habitat: "has anyone read the pre reading?" They wait in vain for the answering call of the lesser spotted student, "Yes! We have read the pre reading." But the gentle sussuration of shuffling feet is the only response.

These changes are a small step, but we also need to see significant investment in and changes to community mental health and learning disability services, as well as social care services. Cuts to local government are seeing the support in the community cut to the bone leaving people without support.
