the scarborough busway should inspire the city to look into longer, more permanent busways on available right-of-ways that can produce rapid transit speeds at cheaper cost and timelines. the one with greatest potential, i think, is finch east. this would transform east-west travel in scarborough.

"The TTC has said the busway ... was completed early and under budget." Let's hype that as much as we hype delays and over-budget projects. This is the kind of competence in transit projects we're looking for. www.thestar.com/news/gta/a-f...

And we can’t wait to ride it! Building this busway was a key ask from TTCriders in the mayoral byelection in 2023. It’s amazing that Scarborough is getting better transit, and hopefully this inspires other rapid bus corridors in the future.

As you fill out the Toronto Star Vote Compass, please remember that there are many ways to pay for transit that isn’t reliant on fare increases. Presenting this as a binary between better service and higher fares is disrespectful to transit advocates who work tirelessly to push for alternatives.

Thrilled that both Chow and Alexander correctly said tonight that RapidTO lanes have reduced delays. Bradford on the other hand is…skeptical. Says lanes could be good where needed. Erm, like Dufferin? The street identified as the top priority by the city? The one he voted against?

Toronto now has a cap on 47 monthly transit fares (yes!) but the advocacy group @ttcriders.bsky.social wants to lower that next year to an elegant 40. Pay for your weekday full-time-job commute but travel for free everywhere else, how great is that? They’re asking for donations to keep up lobbying 👍🏼
