Nothing new, but I'm disappointed. Many years ago, Linux represented the alternative. The question was: "Why don't you just use Windows? It's easier." And the answer was, almost always: "To be free." The "bazaar" spirit of Linux and its distributions made us feel free. Personally, I've always […]

Looking forward to watching the recording of this session from Bruce Schneier! I'm learning a lot just reading the summaries of the talks at [un]prompted II. It's like peeping into the maelstorm of cybersecurity and AI. unpromptedcon.org/agenda-10-2026
Screenshot reads:
11:35 – 12:00
Integrous AI Systems Design

Bruce Schneier, Fellow and Lecturer, Harvard Kennedy School and the University of Toronto
In computer security, the CIA Triad represented the three security properties systems should have: confidentiality, integrity, and availability. Of the three, integrity has been the most elusive; and, in an AI-powered internet-of-things world, the most important. This talk explores all the facets of integrity: data, processing, storage, and contextual. If we are ever going to trust these systems to take complex actions on our behalf – we are going to need to solve integrity.

Hoh River to Blue Glacier trip report. This was a good trip. 37 miles with 5.4k of elevation gain (most of that gain in the last 1/4 of the trip). The trail was in good condition overall but had some tricky areas towards the end (Elk Lake to Glacier Meadows) […] [Original post on infosec.exchange]
View up a river valley that's deeply forested on both sides. You can see the silver water winding its way down. There are clouds caught in the mountaintops. View of a large glacier that's crevassed with the summit of the mountain wreathed in clouds. The scene is eerie and beautiful. Small green tent pitched under some fir trees with young alder and a wide river channel in the background. You can see distant forests and mountains in the back. Big river with the water cloudy from glacial silt. There's a large tree that's upturned in the river. Some maples are turning red, but most of the trees are evergreen firs climbing the slopes of the valley. The sky is cloudy.
