You’ll feel less confused if you admit to yourself that some people don’t care about the suffering of others, and some people like it.

You have to adopt the mentality that collective action leads to results. Your single action is not going to change the world and you have to be okay with that. But know that millions of other people are taking the same small steps that you are and it adds up.

Poem by Amanda Gorman for Alex Jeffrey Pretti
We wake with
no words, just woe
& wound. Our own country shoot ing us in the back is not just brutal ity; it's jarring betrayal; not enforcement, but execution. A message: Love your people e you will die. Yet our greatest threat isn't the outsiders among us, but those among us who never look
within. Fear not the those without papers, but those without conscience. Know that to care intensively, united, is to carry both pain-dark horror for today & a profound, daring hope for tomorrow. We can feel we have nothing to give, & still belove this world wait ing, trembling to change. If we cannot find words, may we find the will; if we ever lose hope, may we never lose our humanity. The only undying thing is mercy, the courage to open
ourselves like doors, hug our neighbor, & save one more bright, impossible life.

Hey teachers: Speaking truth to power in your classroom, especially in places that want silence and compliance, is activism. Telling the truth in a room full of students is THE WORK. Refusing to back down and refusing to lie in your curricular decisions is protest. +

Black folks and immigrants have long lived in a "perogative state" when it comes to law enforcement, and maybe pundits at the largest national outlets should recognize that their past support for punitive policing and immigration enforcement laid the groundwork for the current moment.

The wealthy are always so GD worried some poor people are gonna commit some small time fraud. Meanwhile, big corporations are committing HUGE afraid. Just look at defense contractors. Why? Because we have all been taught to see the wealthy as virtuous and to see the poor as lazy and unworthy.

Marco Rubio is reportedly saying Maduro will stand trial in US courts. Which means it’s now the US administration’s position that US courts can hold foreign presidents, but not the US president, accountable for crimes.

Kilmar Abrego Garcia's lawyers inform a federal judge about the Washington Post's bombshell: The government's claim that Costa Rica will no longer accept Abrego has been exposed as a lie. More evidence—"if any were needed"—of vindictive prosecution. Doc storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...
"Kilmar Armando Abrego Garcia respectfully submits this supplemental notice to provide the Court with additional facts relevant to his motion to dismiss for vindictive and selective prosecution. Recent developments in Mr. Abrego’s habeas case before Judge Xinis, concerning the government’s misrepresentations about whether Costa Rica would accept Mr. Abrego upon his removal, make crystal clear that the government is willing to mislead the courts and defy court orders intended to shed light on its conduct, all in service of punishing Mr. Abrego. This provides further proof—if any were needed—of the government’s vindictiveness toward Mr. Abrego and underscores the need for discovery into the motivations of the high-level officials who initiated this prosecution and are ultimately responsible for the government’s misrepresentations regarding Mr. Abrego’s third-country removal."
