"Pivot to video" is synonymous with a desperate, trend-chasing strategy that sacrifices substantive content and leads to layoffs of talented staff to produce superficial videos to chase social media algorithms. Now it's NPR's turn. www.niemanlab.org/2026/09/npr-...

Something remarkable is happening: James Talarico is running an expansively pro-immigrant campaign in Texas, a state Trump won by 14 points, speaking in Biblical terms about our duty to "the stranger." And it's resonating. That's seismic. 1/ (new piece) newrepublic.com/article/2160...

In Texas, Something Seismic Is Happening—and It’s All Trump’s Fault
Thanks to the economy and ICE, Trump has lost Texas Latinos. And James Talarico is developing a humane pro-immigrant message that’s resonating—even in this ultra-Trumpy state.

Peter Magyar is currently enacting a Liberal Currents fantasy where he amends the constitution to ban anyone associated with the old regime from ever holding office again and is somehow polling at 68% (he won with 53%) and I’m not saying that’s possible anywhere else but Dems should like, ask him

At this point I have just accepted that I won’t have Medicaid after next year because of the proof of employment requirement. Even though I have four jobs. There’s no way I’m going to remember to do it every six months. And the Illinois Medicaid website doesn’t work anyways

When they get back in power, Democrats need to go all-in on higher education. We need a campaign of reinvestment in public universities across the country that makes the Morrill Land-Grant Act look like nothing by comparison *and* a GI Bill of Rights-style program of tuition grants.
