Immigrants are often accused of ‘taking all our houses’. Is it fair?
It is perhaps the most often heard complaint about migration: that people come to the UK and take housing that was meant for the British. Since the 1970s, anti-migrant feeling has been bound up with

If the events of this week and the reality of the Private Healthcare Industry have shown us anything, it is that we need to think about other ways of doing things.
"We often hear about Capitalism's
contradictions, but I think the most
tragic one is that we teach kids
pro-social behaviors like to share,
to be kind and to work together....

..but then when they grow up, they're
rewarded for outcompeting others,
being cutthroat & ruthless in the
workplace & if they achieve wealth
& power, they're often rewarded
for many more anti-social
behaviors."

The idea of “social murder” is super useful, and we need to get comfortable using it. Engels is the best, man - reading him feels like finally acknowledging the obvious reality everyone wants you to ignore
Engels on 'Social Murder'
When one individual inflicts bodily injury upon another, such injury that death results, we call that deed manslaughter; when the assailant knew in advance that the injury would be fatal, we call this deed murder.
But when society places hundreds of proletarians in such a position that they inevitably meet a too early and an unnatural death, one which is quite as much a death by violence as that by the sword or the bullet; when it deprives thousands of the necessaries of life, places them under conditions in which they cannot live - forces them ... to remain in such conditions until that death ensues which is the inevitable consequence - knows that these thousands of victims must perish, and yet permits these conditions to remain, its deed is murder just as surely as the deed of the single individual ...

Today’s poem is called ‘Love Excels’.
Image description: This poem is presented in the form an excel spreadsheet, with words in each cell. The line ‘Our cells shall merge themselves together’ is in a longer merged cell, and there are filter arrows on the line ‘Remove this filter from my heart’.

Love Excels

Let's spread ourselves on sheets of love,
and turn our data into poetry.
Our cells shall merge themselves together
as you wrap your text around me.

Our sum is greater than our parts,
let's crunch our figures without compunction.
Remove this filter from my heart,
you give me form and function.

We shall frolic among the formulae,
pivot our tables now and often.
I will total all your rows
and you can add my column.
