Anything of interest in these pictures from September 2, @davesills.ca? There was definitely rotation in the second picture just beyond the houses. This is the southwestern edge of Stratford, the first picture looking south, the second looking west.

I was in Calgary in 2015 and mocking some contract developers their legendary prairie storms as weak sauce. I walked to the office kitchen and noticed a tornado out the window. I rushed back to tell them but they thought I was still razzing them. :)

My son and I ventured out between Stratford and Mitchell to enjoy the incoming storm this afternoon. He loves severe weather and was SO excited. The wind was tremendous and it was beautiful as the front hit. You can see it battering the car at the end of the video. #onstorm #stratford #mitchell

I love that he’s now forming a stronger relationship with the fish. They’re not decoration. They’re living creatures that he sees as part of our family. He misses them in the winter. He’s joyful when they swim over to him for a pat. And they seem to have accepted that he’s not a predator. :)

Sasha and I opened up part of the pond, scooped out lots of algae, cleaned the filters and skimmer, and added more water. It’s such a joy to see the little punks again. They looked happy to see us, too! One more week of good temps and I’ll pull the entire greenhouse down until late autumn.

Fear of rising oil prices? It couldn’t be US interests in oil, or US intervention jn Venezuelan investment in oil. Or all the Iranian oil that the US might want to constrain to drive costs up. Or even all those ghost tankers being shut down in international waters carrying non-US oil.

It took a 152cm/8kg crowbar to break up the ice at the base of the garage door after more than a week of snow storms with more coming. That’s about 6cm of solid ice covered by another 10cm of hard packed snow. And that was covered by 30cm of loose snow. The garage door now closes properly.

Too bad our cats get the fancy pine pellet stuff or I’d be doing that now. :) I have a small 32-channel home studio in the basement with sound isolation. I now have two extra 24-channel consoles (PreSonus and the Yamaha). My big kit (back) and a small kit I put together for another session.

Stratford has been brutalized the past few days. An ice storm, power outages, flooding, a thunderstorm, a melt and refreeze, and now all that ice is snow-covered. This one annoying band has been snaking back and forth across us for hours. It’s always an adventure in the snow belt.

This colour coding doesn’t make sense to me. It’s yellow, but the impact is high. It’s currently shattering down freezing rain (and has been for hours) so the confidence should be high. Shouldn’t this be red? @davesills.ca, this *is* confusing. I was wrong.
