Avocados come in 2 varieties - A-types start each day female and switch to male midday. B-types do the reverse. In work just published from the last chapter of my PhD, we show this system evolved 40+million yrs ago and is regulated by alleles of 1 transcription factor www.pnas.org/doi/10.1073/...

After a long week of engaging and fascinating talks and conversations it's good to take in the sights. The Monterey Bay Aquarium is a must see, incredibly gorgeous view of the ocean! #PEQG26

I made this Pride flag using only NASA images and our team thought it would be cool to share on social (I work on the NASA heliophysics communications team), but it's getting all sorts of hate on the bird app and Fbook. Thought y'all might be more appreciative of it here. ☺️🏳️‍🌈💖
A pride flag with every color band represented by a NASA image. White is Earth clouds, pink is aurora, blue is the Sun in a specific wavelength, brown is Jupiter clouds, black is the Hubble deep field, red is the top of sprites, orange is a Mars crater, yellow is the surface of Io, green is a lake with algae, blue is Neptune, and purple is the Crab Nebula in a specific wavelength.

Really saddened to hear about Prof. Edwards diagnosis 😥 I'm hoping he gets the care he needs during this difficult time.

Aaah! New preprint from the Sethuraman Lab has dropped! Tamsen and I have been working on this for a while, and we can’t wait for your feedback. Short thread on our swanky new polyploid genome simulator, DemographiKs, and its functionality.

Also before I broke for Spring, I worked on theoretical expectations for biases in estimates of Fst, nucleotide diversity, and Tajima’s D due to gene flow from an unsampled ghost population; and updated our 4 year old preprint and submitted it. Fun! Comments welcome.
