NEW VIDEO: In the past I've explored who to blame for Stomp Clap and Britpop, now its Butt Rock's turn. Also known as post-grunge and divorced-dad rock, it is the moment where all grunge's punk ethics and underground legitimacy gets erased in the place of some actually pretty great radio songs

The single cover for Killing Joke's Love Like Blood, a bare-chested man wielding a sword

The Psychedelic Furs single cover for the song "Love My Way". A quartet of scruffy new wavers arrange themselves around a rocking chair.

The single cover for Underworld's Born Slippy. It comprises mostly of text listing the various remixes included on the disc, including famously the NUXX variant. It sits atop the image of an out of focus pint of lager.

The single cover for the Jam's Town Called Malice. A house's back garden framed with what looks like a barbed wire fence in the foreground.
