So here goes. In academic research there are two highly productive strategies: depth/analysis and breadth/synthesis. Depth is to explore a domain as far down into the detail as you can. Breadth is to explore connections between different domains as wide as you can. 1/n

If you think that AI reviews in conferences "to save time" or "be thorough" or "handle the large # of submissions coming due to AI", ask yourself how much it'll cost, and who will pay. If not "gifted" by companies, this is going to be north of $30+/paper. You expect 1000+ submissions? Budget that.

Some initial thoughts, and a complicated mix of feelings. Wow. I mean, Erdos problems are cool (I genuinely mean that), I didn't know about the Jacobian conjecture before it got disproved. But this newest batch from OpenAI hits home in a way the previous announcements did not.
