She seems fine. I’m glad Labour is fighting this from something closer to the Greens than Reform. She’s still a Labour candidate. People still have lost their trust in Labour. I can’t see why anyone should choose this candidate in Gorton over Hannah Spencer 💚
Labour’s candidate for the Gorton and Denton by-election, Angeliki Stogia, has spent the last 12 years campaigning for good homes, better transport and a greener Manchester.

Now she’s running to unite Gorton and Denton and stand up to Reform.

Vote Labour on Thursday 26 February.

"So to ensure that everyone feels respected and supported during their visit, we provide gender-neutral, accessible toilets across the Gardens" I'm nonbinary, and I have never felt less respected and supported than when you use gender neutral toilets to segregate binary trans people.
In line with the interim guidance from the Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC), and to comply with the Equality Act, our single-sex facilities are provided on the basis of biological sex. We appreciate that this may be upsetting, particularly for those who wish to use facilities that reflect their gender identity.

So to ensure that everyone feels respected and supported during their visit, we provide gender-neutral, accessible toilets across the Gardens (separate from the male and female designated toilets). Their locations are listed below.

Victoria Plaza
Palm House Pond
Ruined Arch
Temperate House
Brentford Gate
Kew Palace
Orangery
Family Kitchen
Pavilion Bar & Grill

In addition, the toilets inside the Botanical Bar & Brasserie are all gender-neutral.

Thank you for sharing your concerns, and we look forward to welcoming you to the Gardens again soon.

This reads like more evidence that the interim EHRC guidance was drawn up by Kishwer Falkner and cronies, without input from neutral expert staffers. www.theguardian.com/society/2025...
They said: “Most people, including some fairly senior ones, had no idea the interim guidance was coming until it was published late on the Friday evening.

“They woke up to texts from family members and friends saying: ‘What’s going on?’ Staff working on sex and gender issues hadn’t been told, and nor had the duty press staff who were meant to explain it to the media. It was completely shambolic.

“This is, understandably, a fairly inclusive workplace and quite a few staff have trans friends or even partners. They suddenly had to try and explain this guidance which made no sense.

“The pushback has been really strong. Some stakeholders are saying they can no longer work with us. Loads of staff say they’re looking for other jobs. The approach from the chair and senior leadership has been really secretive and paranoid.”

For cis allies; something you can do to support trans people… A list of suggestions from @annehealthcare.bsky.social
Cis-allies: Now’s the time to step up 📢

If you’re feeling helpless after the UK Supreme Court ruling and the EURC’s response, here’s 5 practical steps you can take to support the trans community right now:

1️⃣ Tell your MP you oppose the ruling and anti-trans guidance — use a template, personalise it, and hit send.

2️⃣ Stay informed, avoid media spin, and learn the facts from trusted, trans-led sources.

3️⃣ Support legal funds and healthcare access for trans people.

4️⃣ Make your support public — show up, speak up, and wear your allyship proudly.

5️⃣ Challenge transphobia when it’s safe to do so — silence helps no one.

There are plenty more things you can do to help - attend protests and marches, have those awkward conversations with your colleagues, friends, family - but these are a starting point.

The political conditions to erase trans people did not just appear. Social anxieties about transition, fears about “trans predators,” and hostilities towards gender fluidity cultivated a climate that degrades trans life. Transphobia dressed up as “legitimate concern” led us to such violent politics.

A reminder: LGBT folks aren’t an “ideology” or “agenda.” We’re people. Some of us are talented. Some of us are nice. Some of us are weird. Some of us are annoying. Some of us do bad things. But we all deserve to thrive in a society that doesn’t force us to justify our existence or debate our rights.

Dear Heather Herbert,

The Government has responded to the petition you signed – “An independent evaluation of the Cass review on child gender services”.

Government responded:

The Government and NHS England are fully committed to implementing all recommendations from the independent and evidence based Cass Review. We do not support an independent evaluation of the Review.

The Independent Review of gender identity services for children and young people (the Cass Review) was a comprehensive and independent review commissioned by NHS England to make recommendations on how to improve NHS gender identity services for children and young people. The government and NHS England have made a clear commitment to implement its 32 recommendations in full.

The Cass Review is robust, evidence-based, and the most comprehensive assessment of gender incongruence in children and young people that has been produced to date. It was underpinned by a systematic review conducted by the University of York and a programme of proactive engagement. Dr Cass’ team engaged with over 1000 individuals and organisations across the breadth of opinion on this subject including trans, gender questioning young people, as well as support and advocacy groups.

Dr Cass’ team have been transparent around the methodology used throughout the Review and have made this information publicly available on the Cass Review website. The link to access the peer-reviewed systematic evidence reviews that informed the report and recommendations is available here: https://adc.bmj.com/pages/gender-identity-service-series.
