In the paper, we argue that PEM is characteristic of and unique to ME, and is equivalent to PENE as defined by the ICC. Required to be prolonged, disproportionate, systemic, may be delayed, can cause lasting functional decline

This is how we should see these magnificant animals, not hauled up on a boat or in fillets on a slab. We should no more catch or kill this rare and stunning megafauna than we should trap or kill tigers or whales. Here are some more of Rupert’s photos from yesterday, with his kind permission.

There aren't many days when you can kayak off Start Point, renowned for one of Britain's most dangerous tidal races. But yesterday the stars aligned, so I bunked off work. Delighted to see Rupert Kirkwood (the Lone Kayaker) out there. He took this picture of me +1. Before you ask: yes, it's real. 🧵

(1/3) Perhaps what the GP wrote was lost in translation striving for balance? Of course exercise (beyond our capacity) is inherently dangerous, it is built into the definition of PEM. When improving, it is also far more useful to do hobbies or chores than a bland exercise in the name of exercise.

(3/3) This spin poisoned the well against critics of the #PACEtrial, so I had to address it in detail with the information tribunal that sided with my FOIA request. It was well received and they agreed the assessment of #MECFS activism in relation to the #PACEtrial was "grossly exaggerated" (p40).

(1/3) @georgemonbiot.bsky.social is far more deserving of winning a prize for his journalism on the #MECFS scandal than whatever award was given to another journalist for literally just reporting a curated narrative handed to him by the Science Media Centre (UK) as part of their organised campaign.

What about the possibility of #MECFS patients being given rephrased or tweaked GET in disguise e.g. pacing up? When the 2021 NICE guidelines were published, there was posturing from the Royal Colleges over what GET actually meant in practice and how it was delivered, because GET label became toxic.
