the worst first world problem is searching for a thing, reading reviews and then getting tons of ads for that thing for MONTHS even AFTER you bought it I already bought the thing you're advertising I KNOW THE FEATURES and i know it doesn't work as good as your ads, but WHATEVER GO AWAY

National Park Service has open comment page, for Albert Speer Memorial Arch that is next on MAGA wish list You can make comments here: parkplanning.nps.gov/documentsOpe... That page has lots of "before and after" illustrations. Below, before/after view from near JFK/RFK grave site in Arlington

You want NASA to say “we hired people for the astronaut corps who will *do the job with grace and professionalism.* (they do!) And when we did that hiring, we ensured there was equity of training / abilities to give ourselves the best hope of success no matter the mission” (this is the real miss)

We ALL understand this is complex. But, many are misreading the critiques. “all men=bad” is not it Rather: “we didn’t consider women when recruiting for the astronaut corps ” “we didn’t consider women in hiring decisions” “we didn’t consider women in training decisions” “We didn’t consider women…”

110

Did they fail to ensure half of their corps were hired/trained in skills NASA needed? OR was this a shunning and screw up? Would people rather believe NASA is bad at planning? (evidence to the contrary) …or that just plain old sexist?

220

we know astronauts are not interchangeable. Each joins the corps with their own experiences, but are trained to do lots of different & important jobs. So, is this a failure of planning / training by the Astronaut Office?

Just to be clear: the current astronaut corps has 42 members, about half are women. If you flipped a coin to select the Artemis crew, you’d end up with at least one woman out of four. (we all know they don't BUT…) With Artemis II, NASA built huge positive mention. This just tanked it.

I enjoy people trying to draw boxes around totally made-up things in social culture. Esp with the current culture war. Who’s to say what is and isn’t manly/masc? Drag? Axes? We all have biases and assumptions and heuristics, but because we all have them… they’re all equally presumptive and pointless

Whenever I hear someone say something is “not manly” I try to ask: why? What about it? If a man, any man, does any thing — that thing is manly. As it was done, at that time, by a man.

I still have a (very mild) personal vendetta against my college English professor, who told me I couldn't use the word "hermitude" because "you can't make up words". Yes, I can. I just did. And you know exactly what that word means, even though you never read it before in your life.

One of the things I love about #HealthvsHype is we get to cover things that people *hear about in their daily lives.* Then we get to the bottom of whether they are actually worth the time, money, or effort! #VO2MAX was one of those that surprised me

I made this meme some years ago and it just popped up in my phone photo memories and… welp.

Meme where guy checks out girl in red but the girl in red is an inspirational story and the guy is the us media and the indignant girlfriend is a huge systemic failure

Sidebar: this show sounds AMAZING. I listened to a cut of the first episode a couple weeks back and I got really emotional. Not only is this *important* but for the first time in a long time, I sounded so…knowledgeable! I realized I hadn't felt that in a minute. 💘 LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU THINK!

The show is really amazing, the topics we've picked to start are so relevant. I'm excited to see how people respond. I see so many claims about health and wellness online, but taking a beat to learn the science from the actual experts was SO refreshing.

Turned the water off right away and the leaking stopped. None of the valves around the house controlled the flow to that pipe…. So we’re just without water for a while
