this is a bit of an obsession of mine especially here in charlottesville. the cost of commercial real estate is prohibitive if you want to experiment and the city seems categorically opposed to small lots and small units that could allow people to start businesses without a huge capital investment

It's fairly normal to need a note to be excused from gym class/swim. The part of this that I think bugs me more is that they then BOTH need to do dry land exercise that day AND makeup the swim class. That's double class.

I keep thinking about when I worked on the 19th floor of a building and we did a fire drill, walking down all those flights. Even taking my shoes off, my calves and legs were burning jello. I simply cannot imagine 80+ flights of stairs, never mind the terror, of the towers on 9/11....

I don't think he's dead. I think he's incapacitated by dementia, stroke, or both to the point that he can't even get through a phone call or video message to assure us he is able to perform his duties. And I think they definitely hid that to avoid a special election.

My husband sat in on a prospective employee interview with his boss. The interviewee was probably using AI to answer his questions. And he wasn't pulling it off well. Lots of pauses while he waited for answers, reading errors, etc. Needless to say, he no longer being considered.

We need a code of ethics for influencers. DIY way is for everyone to make a habit of regularly reminding their viewers where they do/don't take money from. Bigger idea is to create a movement that people pledge to. Unenforceable, of course. Even bigger, a prof assoc w/ dues for creators.
