Agree on this It's like bi-weekly and bi-monthly mean the same thing. I've been told both as far as a pay schedule goes and they both meant roughly every 2 weeks.

I had to pay into my company commercial insurance to be a freaking delivery courier, doctors have to carry malpractice insurance due to the sensitive nature of their work, cops carry guns and are allowed to hit people. Yes, end qualified immunity and make them carry insurance.

Maybe... base wage increase to offset indiv cost, but cost sharing between indiv and dept. Sign up like with other benefits. If rate increases due to your actions, only your contribution increases, dept stays same. Ppl could also BYO their own third party but it would cost them more.

Heck, I'm having to retrain myself how to just watch a television series or a movie without having a second screen doing something else. I get fidgety and distracted and keep reaching. I never used to have that problem just chilling and watching tv/movie. And I'm GenX, so I def knew how.

There are hundreds of small towns in states like Oklahoma and Kansas that only have a gas station, a rinky dink Mexican restaurant, a Dollar General, and a Subway.

Hear me out: End qualified immunity and make armed law enforcement officers carry professional liability insurance. Too many (or severe) claims and a leo is unemployable because they're uninsureable. And the massive settlements aren't the responsibility of the taxpayers.

"Effective altruism" is different than plain altruism. It's wrapped in fancy language, but takes the local/human focus out of altruism. It's a decide who lives and dies kind of philosophy. It's like telling the homeless person asking for change that $1 isn't going to change their situation anyhow.

I would think the sheer quantity of Liberty Mutual ads would make any current customers leave. Like, an ad budget that obnoxious must impact the rates people pay. I'm so sick of the ads that I would never consider switching to them.

My husband started working from home mid-2020 and has ever since even with changes in employer. He's doing essentially the same type of work for the same type of companies he has for the last 13 years, but post pandemic they just aren't real focused on keeping everyone in the office.

Watching PBS's Gilded Age doc on youtube and they said Carnegie retired mgmt to become a full-time independent capitalist by 30 and by 45 was searching philosophy and religions for the answer to why him, why did he get so wealthy. Dude! It's because you didn't pay your workers enough. Simple as that

I saw a post asking which actor/narrator voice was instantly recognizable, besides Morgan Freeman. I just watched a PBS doc and it was Peter Coyote, and I realized I'd seen several with him narrating and I always recognize his voice.

I only listen to the radio in the car, and even then it's SiriusXM (alt2k, poprocks, 90son9, FirstWave). I don't watch network television where I'd see lots of ads using popular songs. So I'm not purposely avoiding it, but I won't seek it out either. I'm not a country fan, so why would I.

Just saw another one. This time a black male, slightly more urban coded. It's called Kovo and it's a 'credit building' app. This one didn't seem ai, so maybe it was just the editing style of the first one that made it seem so?

Tortured Typewriter @torturedtypewriter.bsky.social · 27/09/2026
I was so thrown off by the spokesperson/ai that I wasn't able to remember the company. I just know I've never heard of them before. Not even sure exactly what they do, but I got the impression it was like chime or klarna or credit monitoring thing or something like that.

I just saw a commercial for a financial service that used an ai 'actress' -- a young black woman, maybe 30, coded as educated but working class, talking about how she doesn't participate in the 'system'. Literal digital blackface to sell subpar financial app.

For me, the coffee is no big deal (or any non-alcoholic beverage). Having something to quench a dry throat if you're going to be speaking isn't a bad thing. However, if the beverage became too obtrusive then I would wonder (gesticulating while holding, sipping loudly, leaving litter behind, etc).

And she doesn't check him on it at all, just repeats the fraud lie. Not even "Isn't that how insurance works though?" We're getting older, so my husband has some medical issues now. But prior to 2 years ago, he's probably seen a doctor twice in our 30+ years of marriage. But he's had insurance.

Doc tried to do a needle biopsy on a breast lump in the office with no numbing then called me a baby when I cried. I asked if he'd feel the same way about his testicles. When the gen surg did it instead, w/ numbing, he was incensed at orig doc's behavior.
