I'm so fed up with people talking about how useful ai is in meetings that I've started keeping a folder of news articles about ai being terrible

I haven't and won't read it; they're always the same: about the perspective of the cut off parents and the "experts" who aren't the therapists working with the adult kids cutting them off. It's an obvious power choice of whose perspective matters in the articles, and it's never the one leaving.

Does she make herself a real hazard when I'm going a paint by the numbers and cause multiple smears by nuzzling the paintbrush? Yes. Is she also totally worth every smear and washed paw with her incredible cuteness? Very yes.

a lot of white queers don't understand what whiteness is, and that makes much of their interactions with queer folk of color suck, so I'll explain a little. The two facets of whiteness that are most important in this context are that it is a social and legal exemption from racial oppression.

Honestly, the asexuality part is really important. (Polyamory too for legal reasons especially.) People always demand why asexuality requires protection, but it’s already happening in many religiously conservative places—it’s being labeled a deviant “ideology”.

I'm getting worried about this fuel situation as summer turns into fall, which will turn into winter. Oil heaters are hard enough for people to afford oil for now, I'm really worried about what will happen this winter with that.

Cops in my city refused to even let ice park in their parking lot. We're not safe--but other cities in the state are getting a lot more ice than we are now.

The thing to understand about romance is that romance will absolutely shank romance in a drive-by romance-on-romance shanking, but that just makes us very good at shanking, and there are so many of us that we have a lot of practice.

I accept the necessity of Bell Peppers but I don't have to like them. Cooking for myself means I can chop them into shreds, so they'll cook down and not be noticeable while still providing the necessary flavour

Though I won't forget at my first Worldcon, I'd asked a friend to sneak back to a book stall to buy Castle hangnail as a surprise for my sister (who was with me) And friend texted me that Ursula Vernon saw them buying it and offered to sign it with many exclamation points.

I kept copies of the state's cops edition manual on (subject I dealt with a lot) and handed it out to people to pull out and show cops who were refusing to help them to prove that enforcement wasn't optional. And did a loooooot of calls to their supervisors the times they still didn't do anything.

You can become disabled or homeless in an instant. It just takes one accident or illness to change your life forever. It’s not a moral failing. You can’t just “try harder”. People need support, compassion and to have their basic needs met. That’s how you ensure survival.

By personality of the bookcase first- the dignified, tall dark butler shelf gets non fiction, the bookshelf of emotional processing has poetry, etc. shelves that don't care are by theme/author/feel, so, like, one shelf is dystopian, one is Robin Mckinley & intisar khanani who feel alike to me.
