Well…all things considered, that was a rough old week. Let’s hope a nice dram can put things right. Wishing you all a peaceful and relaxing weekend, wherever you are 🥃 Slàinte # Whisky

@thewhiskywire.bsky.social delivers another set of absolute top-drawer drams #BenromachWhisky All 4 were great, but the 12yo and 21yo were exceptionally good imho. Benromach are making some superb liquid. Huge thanks 🙏 (and sorry for being late 🫣🤣)

On to the final #BenromachWhisky dram of the night. 21yo 🤤 Much more old wood on the nose compared to the first 3 drams, with a lovely old library/leather note to the fore. Very little smoke. Candied orange sweets, cream sherry, beef stock, and butterscotch.

That 12yo is going to be hard to beat…let’s give the 15yo a shot #BenromachWhisky Much more subtle nose than the 12 (perhaps the lower ABV is contributing), but noticeably carrying the same distillery profile. The smoke and industrial notes are dialled back, revealing dark chocolate and pipe tobacco

Let’s move on to the new #BenromachWhisky 12yo. Boom! What a nose. A big step up from the wine finish for me, with so much more of the classic Benromach notes. Oily smoke and a diesel soaked cloth all wrapped up in luscious fruity sherry notes with a sweet edge.

Tom Gillingwater @tomgillingwater.bsky.social · 24/09/2026
@thewhiskywire.bsky.social has issued orders to try this one first #BenromachWhisky The nose is very autumnal, with brambles, overripe plums, and port-esque tannins. Whiffs of the industrial smoke I associate with Benromach come later.

I’m late to the party, but going to try and play catchup now #BenromachWhisky Very excited to try these drams as Benromach has long been a favourite of mine #Whisky

The fallacy that University leaders pushing AI are falling into is thinking that the point of undergraduate research is to find things out. It isn't. What students find out is typically already generally known. The point of undergraduate research is to learn how to find things out.

Your reminder that the only half-time show any game needs is a half-arsed penalty shootout with kids from a local primary while a groundsman pokes morosely at the pitch with a garden fork. Also the half-time draw in which someone wins max two hundred quid.

ONLINE NOW: A nucleolar view of neuromuscular disease
dlvr.it
A nucleolar view of neuromuscular disease
The nucleolus is a master regulator of ribosome biogenesis and cellular homeostasis, as well as an increasingly key determinant of neuromuscular diseases. Across these conditions, diverse genetic and molecular lesions converge on alterations in nucleolar organization and function. These changes impact ribosomal RNA synthesis and reshape translational output, linking nuclear events to cytoplasmic protein homeostasis in disease-relevant contexts. In this review, we propose a comprehensive framework in which the nucleolus integrates RNA dysfunction, genome organization, and translational control across neuromuscular disorders. This perspective provides a conceptual basis for interpreting disease heterogeneity and highlights nucleolar pathways as potential, underexploited targets for therapeutic intervention.
