Huge thanks @thewhiskywire.bsky.social for tonight's #JuraWhisky Tastings. I love how Jura is such an easy quaffer. Great to try these 4 drams. I know the 12yo has a low ABV but there are times you just want a comfort dram. My favourite was the 15yo in the sherry cask but I'd happily drink them all

#JuraWhisky I think we need to be mindful of what the idea behind a lot of Jura is right now, and that is simple, approachable whisky. The higher abv drams held up better than the lower abvs. Would I buy? Probably not. It's not for me. But also, there are many excellent IB Juras out there.

I've been quite disparaging of Jura over the years, as I knew they could produce some wonderful whisky if they tried. Tonight they proved it to me. The 2 sherry cask whiskies were outstanding, but the 15 takes the win for me tonight. #JuraWhisky

Jura 15 Sherry cask on the palate: I can definitely taste that plum/hoisin sauce note, Chinese pancakes, marmalade, black cherry ice cream, milk chocolate & Chinese 5 spice. Mouthfeel is lipsmackingly oily, & finish is long and peppery. I really want Chinese food now. #JuraWhisky

@thewhiskywire.bsky.social i came into this not expecting much,yet im surprised, for me the older age statements were the best, the 12 didnt do it, the sherry 12 pulled it back a little but the 15 & the 16 were smashing, as somebody thats not a jura fan im relatively surprised with the outcome!

On the palate 15yo Jura sherry cask 46% - Spicy, but with endless nuttiness and milk chocolate. Literal liquid snickers. A spicy Snickers bar. Then some limoncello and Arancello Schnnaps. Again, then a sour note to end. #JuraWhisky

#JuraWhisky 15yo Sherry Cask Palate: thick mouth coating arrival, a lot of salinity and minerality - like sucking beach pebbles, a little sweetness, lemon zest and a bite of peppery spice. After the first sip there's orange zest, almonds and a little hazelnut. Yummy!

#JuraWhisky 15yo Sherry Cask Nose: orchard fruit, salinity and a little citrus to start. There's some tinned fruit juice, plums, almonds and a litle minerality.

Jura 15 Sherry Cask Finish nose: I expected this to be similar to the 12 Sherry cask Finish, but it's not at all. If anything the nose reminds me of Chinese crispy duck pancakes. There's an oily meatiness, hoisin sauce, spring onion vibe as well as salted caramel ice cream & dark honey. #JuraWhisky

Jura 12 Sherry Cask on the palate: super sweet, cherries, plums, damsons, muscovado sugar and tarte tatin. Reminds me of a brown sugar bubble tea I had in Japan a few years back. Lovely oily mouthfeel and medium finish. This is my favourite of the night so far. #JuraWhisky
