To understand the brain, we need to study groups of neurons, not individual cells alone. These groups form distinct “subspaces,” allowing different downstream areas to extract the information they need. Beyond single-cell sensory representations in cortex doi.org/10.1016/j.co... #neuroscience

This is a nice initative-I appreciate it, but for me coming from Central Europe a big issue is still the geographical heuristic through which US-based colleagues judge the quality of work from different parts of the world. Until that is named and worked through, things wont change much in academia..

Good point re social media bans for children: we are unable to properly regulate them or addictive algorithms so we tens to opt for seemingly “easy” but extreme option of total social media ban for children. Are we really unable to force BigTech to accept tougher regulation?

A huge issue! Many non-English populations got left behind with LLMs and this will only multiply disparities in access to research, health and education innovations between the Eng-speaking world and non-Eng countries. We really need the UN and every international body to start addressing this.
