I also think allos as a whole need to have more conversations about the split attraction model. You might not be romantically attracted to the same gender you're sexually attracted to, and that's a good thing to figure out. It's possible to want different things from different people.

Sorry, texting should have been "posting to social media during your breaks"

Anyway. Thanks for letting me rant. Nothing this year beat the previous years' "free sandwiches are an ethics violation," "texting is an ethics violation," and "a pencil left in your pocket" is an ethics violation, tho "having a crappy second job is an ethics violation" leads for most enraging.

... I might be done? There's one more big deck, but it's already showing the "completed" sticker. Maybe it's every other year? I'm going to give the hub page a couple days then look in on it again before i celebrate.

Did you know that people are different? And w what's abnormal for one person might be normal for another? Stg, who is this thing written for? (No i know that, and it makes me cranky)

These hypothetical conversation examples read like a guide to sounding like chatgpt. Just the most generic, therapy-speak, tell-me-more, blank wall questions. If i heard those while having a crisis, I'd clam up immediately

Did you know people often remember how you made them feel more than the exact words you said? This slide deck wants us to know that. I feel like it's talking about dogs or pets, not other humans. This is an odd one.

Did you know having a mental illness doesn't mean your life is a worthless shell of unending torment? The hell of 500 slides wants to assure you you can make a recovery and still have a meaningful and productive life working for the company even if your brain is bad

Tokoz Dragon @tokozdragon.bsky.social · 12/10/2026
Double ohh, they had an audit that they failed and this is to be in compliance. I see, i see. Attaching it to the hell of 500 slides means EVERYONE has to click a button saying they've seen it. Gotcha gotcha.

Tokoz Dragon @tokozdragon.bsky.social · 12/10/2026
Oohh, this isn't second jobs for schmucks like me, it's second jobs for managers and higher and junk. I guess the bottom tiers are just expected to be doing multiple jobs. The real people needs to ask permission first.

Huh. They've ditched the audio reader, but have a "no frills" button that removes all the graphics for a text-only mode. Interesting.

Tokoz Dragon @tokozdragon.bsky.social · 12/10/2026
Oh, i think this is a new one. An entire slide deck on ethics in secondary employment. So many people in this company have second jobs you have to designate a portion of the 500 slide hell to it. Man. The things you do to avoid paying people a living wage

Another point to this year's hell, they call out touching Black people's hair as harassment. Prima facie harassment, no equivocating.

Tokoz Dragon @tokozdragon.bsky.social · 12/10/2026
Ooo! New for this year! It is an ethics violation to use AI to do your discrimination for you. Good for them! (Tho, if it's in the hell of 500 slides, that means it happened for real somewhere and that's just vile)
100
Tokoz Dragon @tokozdragon.bsky.social · 12/10/2026
(just once i would love if this hell would mention actual wage theft, by companies, instead of trying to scare employees into revering the holy and inviolable timecard, but somehow, that never happens. We did get a slide about whistleblower protections at least. I guess.)

Tokoz Dragon @tokozdragon.bsky.social · 12/10/2026
There's some "ethics for admin" slides in here & they're like "the c-suite guy who flagrantly violated this ethics rule that only the top 3% even have a chance of breaking was given a fine that looks big to you lessers but was a tiny fraction of his salary. He was not stopped in any way." ... Sigh.

Tokoz Dragon @tokozdragon.bsky.social · 12/10/2026
Oh we've got an evil union hypo, take a drink! (The unions are always somehow evil in the hell of 500 slides. BUT I'M SURE THAT'S NOTHING MORE THAN A COINCIDENCE)

Tokoz Dragon @tokozdragon.bsky.social · 12/10/2026
Okay, I'll give them that one. Accepting campaign contributions to your work address is a pretty bad look. Piggybank spanking bad? Eh, maybe.

Tokoz Dragon @tokozdragon.bsky.social · 12/10/2026
... This clip art has a weird little shape guy holding up a paddle-like "x" on a stick like he's spanking a piggybank with an American flag sticker peeling off it. I don't. I. I just. What is. ....Sigh. sure. Fine. Let's keep going.

Like, it's a $25 Amazon gift card, I'm not donating that to an "approved 501(c)(3)", I'm using it to buy things i can't afford on my salary. Or i dunno, a toy or something. Anyway, this is why these ethical things make me cranky
100
Tokoz Dragon @tokozdragon.bsky.social · 12/10/2026
If you take a survey and win the gift card attached to that survey, are you a bad employee? The hell of 500 slides says yes.
100
Tokoz Dragon @tokozdragon.bsky.social · 12/10/2026
Sadly, "i don't know i haven't seen anything" isn't an option.

Tokoz Dragon @tokozdragon.bsky.social · 12/10/2026
First ethical quiz: an employee writes down a couple hours of overtime after being saddled with two people's jobs in addition to their own. Employee heroically does all that work by closing but gives themselves OT anyway. Are they evil or are you a bad employee too?
100
Tokoz Dragon @tokozdragon.bsky.social · 12/10/2026
(this ethical hypo "ripped from the headlines" also has the employee disclosing the second job to the company, *according to procedure!* But no, answering second job texts while at this one is an ethical sin. You're a bad employee!)
110
Tokoz Dragon @tokozdragon.bsky.social · 12/10/2026
Will this job pay enough for us to live on? Fuck no! It's our ethical duty to find crappy second jobs to supplement this one with good bosses who respect this, our real job's, time! And we all know how easy it is to find good bosses who respect an employee's time...

Tokoz Dragon @tokozdragon.bsky.social · 12/10/2026
First Horrible Ethics Horror Story meant to scare us little worker bees into behaving: having your second job text you while at this one. So horrible! Fire that man for having a crappy second job!

Tokoz Dragon @tokozdragon.bsky.social · 12/10/2026
No, i take that back. This is some prezzi/canva animated slide transition bullshit and it's making me slightly queasy. There is no way to turn it off

Fun. A reminder that the hell of 300 slides you went through as a new hire this year doesn't get you out of the hell of 500 slides happening right now. Just in case anyone thought otherwise.
110
Tokoz Dragon @tokozdragon.bsky.social · 12/10/2026
Ooh right off the bat, they've hired someone to put the slides into a wrapper that make them look almost not at all like an innumerable amount of PowerPoint slides.

It's ethics training season, otherwise known as "the hell of 500 slides" and, as is my tradition, i will be posting through it (being itself last year's Extreme Ethics Violation (tm))! What vile ethical dilemmas will i be exhorted to piously avoid for the good of my company? Let's find out!

was having a conversation with a family friend two days ago about this. . . I genuinely think society needs to be structured so we can live together in households where not every adult has to be working for pay. (obvi not a fan of gender roles which indicate it can ONLY be a woman)

Adding: this snark is never for audience benefit. If someone thinks the sci-fi is too weird or the horror is too discomforting, they can make their own jokes. Art doing that itself is to prevent others' jokes. The artist says "I'LL laugh so YOU can't make fun of me." And it's so spineless.

It's telling that men would rather try to invent tech to replace humans' role in caregiving than step up as equal partners in parenting. Telling, that is, in that it shows how financial capitalism and patriarchy work together to dissuade men from doing "unprofitable" labor, like the work of care.
