Utterly delighted to share the cover for my novel, Mincemeat! On shelves in November. Painting by artistic magician Hannah Ireland & design by prolific virtuoso @toddatticus.com Lovely comments from the brilliant @catherinechidgey.bsky.social & @brannavan.bsky.social #pukapuka #MincemeatNovel
Front cover for a novel. It has a purple background and features a painting of a Labrador in mixed natural colours, who is facing the reader and wearing a folded paper hat with green and pink checks.

Block text against an ice blue background across the top of the cover gives the author and title:

ANTHONY LAPWOOD
MINCEMEAT

A quote beneath the title says:

"A wonderfully unsettling novel" - Catherine Chidgey "A wonderfully unsettling novel, shot through with emotional sleight of hand. In prose that feels drawn from a fever dream, Lapwood asks whether the truth about our families and ourselves is something we uncover or something we create. Elegant, haunting and unexpectedly funny.”

— Catherine Chidgey“A missing persons mystery that morphs into an Antonioni-esque existential thriller – Mincemeat is a constantly surprising and taut piece of work.”

— Brannavan Gnanalingam

Chris Hipkins just isn’t the one. I fear Labour will only be able say this once it loses the election, or should they be able to stitch together a coalition, in the middle of the term when they’re still wildly unpopular and squandering power. thespinoff.co.nz/politics/01-...

John Campbell has been asking Chris Hipkins the same question repeatedly for several months now
Forget Matt Damon’s comparatively painless jaunt across the Mediterranean, Campbell vs Hipkins is the year’s most difficult odyssey.

Some very kind words from Steve Braunias in his ReadingRoom newsletter today.
Text: There was Thursday night's opening of a new show of artwork by Todd Atticus, best-known for his amazing range of book covers for Te Herenga Waka University Press, eg The Book of Guilt by Catherine Chidgey. You could hear a kind of melody of that playful cover in his pictures on display at The Tasman Building, 16-22 Anzac Ave, downtown Auckland. Each image presented the word ALAS in various poses of aquamarine blue against white. God they're great, and priced between $950-$2400. The exhibition runs till July 25. Go, see, collect.
