SDC M40 in Gerrards Cross is one of the most harmful sites yet proposed. It puts a gas power station next to ancient and wet woodland, home to great crested newts, bats, grass snakes, skylarks and more. But it bypassed the local council and went through by the government as a Section 35 direction.

This rapid shift to mega-dairies creates a massive surplus of slurry that outdated infrastructure cannot handle. Dairy farming caused 71% of serious agricultural pollution incidents in England, devastating rivers by triggering algal blooms, stripping oxygen levels, and destroying wildlife.

A new Wildlife Trusts report exposes the devastating impact of unchecked mega-dairies on UK wildlife. There are more than 40 mega-dairies in the UK, but lack of government oversight leaves their growth and pollution unmonitored. “Zero-grazing" mega-dairies keep cows inside all year round.

Aretaloger [air-uh-TAL-uh-jur] (n.) - A braggart; one who boasts excessively of their own virtues, merits, or accomplishments.
A “Grandiloquent Word of the Day” meme featuring the word “Aretaloger” [air-uh-TAL-uh-jur]. The definition reads: “A braggart; one who boasts excessively of their own virtues, merits, or accomplishments.” At right, a black-and-white vintage illustration depicts a self-assured, bare-chested gladiator holding a long trident, posed with one hand on his hip. Below, the example sentence reads: “After spending the entire evening giving an account of his wealth, accomplishments, romantic conquests, and innumerable virtues, the aretaloger was incredulous when Miss Junetinkle declined the offer of a second date.”

The fact that Robert Morley was apparently “very fond of and greatly admired” Harrison makes that particularly unforgivable, but even that can’t distract from the urge to invent a time machine and go back to shout at Rex Harrison: “Fuckin’ ’ell, mate. ‘One performance’? Coming from you!”

Robert Morley’s grandson told me that a few days after Robert Morley’s This Is Your Life, he ran into Harrison who said “Very brave going on that programme, but of course unlike me you have only ever had one wife, one family, one house and if I may say one performance”

Sometimes it’s a ‘little old lady’ at the stage door, with either an umbrella or a rolled-up programme, and sometimes Wilfrid H-W, as I say, delivers the punchline, and perhaps it’s a little too good to be true, but it’s entertaining – and far from the only example of Harrison being an arse...

He proffered a piece of paper hoping for an autograph. “Fuck off!” Rex snapped again. Without blinking, the chap thumped Rex in the face and sent him flying backwards. Stanley nearly wet himself with laughter. “That’s the first case of the fan hitting the shit I’ve ever witnessed,” he chuckled.

“Oh, Mr Harrison! Forgive me, but I’m a huge fan...” “Fuck off then,” snapped Rex. Later, as they were leaving, the same chap was standing outside. “I’m sorry, Mr Harrison, I realize I shouldn’t have interrupted your meal so I’ve waited for you to finish.”

It’s taken many forms, and the punchline has been attributed to both Wilfrid Hyde-White and Stanley Holloway (Rex Harrison’s male co-stars), but either way is predicated on the fact that Harrison was a legendarily unpleasant (if also talented) man

The new era needs to create its own “family“ of characters, arcs and therefore you only need itself to follow. That’s one of the secrets of those eras and why they were so popular. Can we *stop losing our minds over every quote!*

Personally I’m just happy BBC Studios acknowledged Matt’s era is just as popular and massive and it did show you can mostly work within your own mythos and keep audiences hooked, without worrying about 40 year old older serials.

The quote going around is saying LIKE the David Tennant and Matt Smith years, not bring them back. I too would try and recapture what those eras did for a general audience whilst also doing something new. Doctor Who needs to be popular in order to get the correct funding to keep it going.
