Already the usual suspects are saying visa vi Digger "this is why we don't get original movies" and "audiences just want safe Marvel crap over real movies" and there have been so many original movies that have made lots of money over the last few years and enough superhero flops to disprove this.

Every time I see David Warner in a film I get reminded how underwhelming his TV Doctor Who appearance is. I get it was probably a fun change from his usual villains and he's good in the episode, but really, you get David Warner, that's it?

An interesting thing about Doctor Who Series 11 is when you look at the ratings etc the dropoff basically happened after Tsuranga Conundrum and never really recovered. Arachnids in the UK was disliked by fans but it being a standard monster of the week went down well with general audiences.

Yes I know they're both Disney, but still, haha. I don't even root specifically for Endgame to get this spot, I just don't want it to be Avatar.

Getting Callow to sign on is the main thing that started RTD's tendency to rewrite everything. Callow wanted a finished script before a deadline he'd be unavailable and Gatiss had other commitments, so RTD submitted the shooting script to Callow under his name. And thus, the tradition began.

I know people are micro-picking RTD's comments about his perspective of RTD2 as a bit ego-stroking and deflecting the blame (cause it is) but the bit about the leaker, no issues there from me, I'm mad too about that, he should've asked Chibnall how he stopped the leaks.

Demise of Doctor Who? Where do we start? In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters. And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. God saw -

The party pooper thing about the Mark Wahlberg 9/11 saga is that there is zero actual proof he was ever meant to be on one of the planes. Unlike Seth Macfarlane. Wahlberg appears to have made the scenario up and it's on Wikipedia as a fact. And that's not even among the worst things he's done.

My take on Obsession being submitted for a Musical/Comedy Golden Globe is why the fuck is there a Musical/Comedy award. What do they have in common? Cabaret and Holy Grail are the same genre? Les Miserables and Airplane? Horror/Biopic. Action/Romcom. Makes as much sense.

Which Doctor Who Series 7 villain should be on The Traitors next? Stephen Berkoff would be a laugh riot surely. Nothing wrong with getting him on a silly BBC show.

The Doctor Who tender deadline has closed and will be figured out in five months... so five more months of *gestures*. Dear me. Every passing day folks online are going totally fucking mad cause they can't watch another show. Patience! The future will be great!

It's quite interesting how Woody Allen is so toxic as a name now that no big name, mainstream actor wants to associate. A lot of these guys have no real shame, they'll do Harry Potter... Allen is just *that* toxic! Roman Polanski is similar, so I guess there's *some* justice?

Given the JFK assassination canonically happened on 22/11/63 in the Doctor Who universe as well, and later continuity firmly establishes Unearthly Child as November 1963 as well, has anything tried to explain why the Doctor chose this period? Cause I have a theory.

The quote going around is saying LIKE the David Tennant and Matt Smith years, not bring them back. I too would try and recapture what those eras did for a general audience whilst also doing something new. Doctor Who needs to be popular in order to get the correct funding to keep it going.

Aw, come on, look what AI morons have done, they’ve upset Sylvester McCoy! If I did that I’d think very hard about what I’d done then write an apology letter, they should be grateful he isn’t going back in time to remove them from the timeline.

An Esther Rantzen fact Doctor Who fans might be aware of, but not known outside of fandom, is she was almost the Eighth Doctor. Not in a “she was on a list of potential actors” way, in a “she was asked and considered it and chose That's Life instead" way. *That* close.

Yes, context is important. Not a defence of his truly stupid comment (should've just ignored the AI shit and not even watched it), but the tender process already specifies to not use AI and everyone's brains are so broken by the current Doctor Who hiatus they've just assumed "AI DOCTOR WHO ERA"

I agree with this list, and continuing from point 2 - take the show seriously, but the stories don't have to be that serious. You should try and make the show as high quality as possible, but it's a family show, you can also relax a bit content wise. It's meant to be a bit of fun.

There's nothing wrong with thinking Twelve's era is the best Doctor Who era but the way some people talk about it does feel like they've just discovered what media criticism is. Guys, we all watched the episodes too. They're not that hard to follow. Sorry, you're not more intelligent than us.

I am going to be watching the worst movie ever made.
Jack Nicholson moments after announcing Crash as the Best Picture winner going "hey, I just read the damn thing".

"If you don't like Birdman you'll hate this" Well I don't like Birdman but I also think Keaton losing the Oscar should've been condemned by the UN so, um... I dunno, the director and star are both full of themselves and could do with a bruising.

I'm not petty at all, I just really like seeing obvious vanity projects where the whole point is "GIVE ME AN OSCAR" fail. OK, maybe I am petty. "My dear boy, have you tried acting?"

You can tell RTD1 was not written with an American audience in mind because otherwise he would not have ended the climax of one of the most watched Doctor Who episodes of all time with a giant airliner being hijacked into a national building with a comedy-action tone.

For the record, the tender pitch for the new Doctor Who series says no AI so the recent comments are not what’s to come, just stupid rich guy saying stupid rich guy things. But IF… on sight, BBC!

Villains who know they’re the villain and LOVE being the villain. Their own worldview means they consider it important that they are the way they are. Like Sutekh, or the Hot Fuzz villains.

There are “current” Doctor Who eras with Thirteen and Fugitive for you to enjoy if you are that desperate for content during the TV hiatus. But, of course, we have to babble on about a fake thing with fake (white male) Doctor, fake story, fake everything. Gee, I wonder why this is getting glazed…

There’s still MCU stuff I’m interested in, I broadly stay in the news circle cause for every project I’m meh on there’s another I’m hyped by. Star Wars though I’m totally out, it’s been mass produced slapped together for so long now, nothing except the thing Matt Smith is in can get me excited.

One of the best interiors and we barely saw it, never left the console room, the companions were hardly ever seen in it, what a shame. Every other interior has felt like a home to a certain extent.

One of my biggest pop culture conspiracy theories is that in the mid-80s Disney was working on adapting The Phantom of the Opera as an animated musical but Andrew Lloyd Webber beat them to it and they gave up. No evidence for this, just something I will swear by. It's a story you'd think they do.

Godzilla Minus Zero getting amazing reviews at the New York Film Festival, big prestigious cinematic release alongside the best of Hollywood, literal pride of a nation, meanwhile Doctor Who fans are crying because the BBC wants to make the show with at least somewhat decent money and effects.

Is there a reason beyond the 2007-08 writer's strike (a far shorter strike than the most recent one that has had a lesser impact on movies) why films from 2008-12, roughly speaking, were so oddly non-inspiring? Golden Age of Pixar, superhero movies on the way to dominance, what else?

I totally agree with the Endgame release being purely a cynical marketing ploy to get it back to number one of all time. Here's the thing - Avatar *literally* did the same thing. By re-releasing it twice. So I will hear no film bros shit their pants about Endgame doing it.

Talking Doctor Who theories with someone today and we both became convinced the reason Ian McKellen has such a random voiceover role is because he signed on to play Simeon but couldn't leave New Zealand at the time. So he got the voice part instead and Richard E Grant was very easy to grab instead.

I still have to remind myself that Arnold Schwarzenegger was the elected leader of an economy nearly as big as Britain for a decade, that is still insanely funny to me. Like if Jason Statham ran and won Mayor of London.

It really starts with Williams/Read with the quasi-medieval planets like Tara or Creature From The Pit. I oddly associate those types of stories with his run primarily even though early JNT did it way more.

No animation except Bojack? I mean, fair enough Bojack is on here, it’s *Bojack* (arguable number one IMO) but the ONLY one? I know Futurama technically didn’t start in the 21st century but it should still be here. And more!

Way I see it, there *is* in fact a way to insist on "neutrality" in art and that's in regards to the forum of expression - festivals, concerts, events etc are neutral forums for anyone (with exceptions). What is expressed in those forums can, and should be political.
