Best way to break into my personal media bubble as a pop music star: "Williams has incorporated political commentary into her current live show, including a statement before performing 'True Believer' in which she declares that 'the greatest threat to American democracy is Christian nationalism.'"

NEW: Trump wants to transform the 2030 census in ways that'd dramatically skew representation. So we asked you to send us your questions. And we invited an expert on the census, who just published a new book interviewing 100s of census workers, to answer you. I learned a ton reading her replies:

Never forget that David Ellison's Skydance Media was originally created so he could be an actor. Skydance's first film was 'Flyboys' starring James Franco and... David Ellison. David and his daddy invested $60m to make Flyboys. It grossed $17m Here's a bit of David's acting:

My god. Domestic abuse shelters are now asking new arrivals if they may have been stalked by their former abusive partner accessing apps in the car the woman arrived in. Car manufacturers don't want to acknowledge they have a role in fixing the problem because they're trying to avoid any liability.

We can argue over where it all started. The Mellon Foundation? Lebrecht's first book? The Flanagan Report? (real heads know) But it started. This pernicious idea that sustainability can be found in cuts and lurches away from artistic integrity started, and it's made a lot of people a lot of money.

A Hark! A Vagrant classic
Watson: Oooh, what’s that you’ve got?
Franklin: My final report
Watson: Little Rosie Franklin’s research! I bet it’s something!
Franklin: ROSALIND.
Crick: Oh, that’s a big name
W: You’re getting fancy on us! Tell me—
F: Ah. I love this game.
W: Is it a scientific breakthrough in feelings?
F: Well, I suppose I have to go into hysterics or have a baby somewhere, good day gentlemen
W: GO, GO
[W and C slip a look at F’s notes]
C: Nice
W: Quit hogging

Auto transcription (I was curious, sharing for access. Agree this is fantastic.)
Screenshot of a transcript. It says: “Exactly right, but I want to say a couple things. One thing about cities that I found in this reporting: cities are very unfairly labeled as these problem centers by Donald Trump and others. And one thing is worth remembering: if you look at the population of well, all people in cities, particularly people who come to cities from elsewhere, but particularly homeless and other vulnerable people in cities, look at youth homeless. A pretty large chunk of those people who end up in cities were failed in some other parts of this country. Okay, in the fraction of youth homeless who are LGBTQ, whatever, pretty high. So there are a lot of families in this country who fail the first duty of family, which is to love your kids more than any other thing, and there's a lot of families in this country that look at some verse in some book, and their child's face, and choose theSecond screenshot says: “verse in the book over their child's face, and drive their children out of Nebraska or out of Florida or out of Idaho, and those kids come to San Francisco, and those kids come to New York, and those kids go to Chicago, and we have friends giving dinners with them. You live in L.A. You are surrounded by people who have those kind of stories, and so cities. Every time someone is sleeping on a subway bench in a city, the rest of America can sort of say, "Ah, look at these cities.” But we are holding a lot of your people who you fail to love and take care of.

Because so much of what we "know" about silent movies is based on lazy stereotypes (all melodramas, mustachioed villains, train tracks, pie fights) perpetuated by movies (later tv) of the 1930s to the 1960s or so. So people not marinated in that tend to come in fresher.
