For National Poetry Day, a personal favourite of mine and one I think about more and more in these troubled times.
The Second Coming
By W.B. Yeats

Guess who just got back today?
Them wild-eyed boys that'd been away
Haven't changed, hadn't much to say
But man, I still think them cats are crazy
They were askin' if you were around
How you was, where you could be found
Told them you were livin' downtown
Drivin' all the old men crazy

[Chorus]
The boys are back in town
The boys are back in town
(I said) The boys are back in town
The boys are back in town
The boys are back in town
The boys are back in town
The boys are back in town
The boys are back in town

Hi I sell books on eBay and for some reason these are the kind of photos I post. Also everything in my shop is labelled “vintage” to justify my exorbitant pricing.
Blurry photo of the corner of a book coverClose up of the inner margin of the book, to show that it contains textWeirdly angled photo of a portion of the cover and spine which doesn’t really show anything conclusive about the book’s condition Blurry of the back cover of the book apparently taken while the book was passing at speed

We need less Country music about pick up trucks and warm beer and more songs about the immortal soul of one highwayman reincarnated throughout the past, present and future.

Good morning. Today, I'm going to give a little push to my second collection of stories, 'Intervals of Darkness', from 2024, partly because I think of it as particularly autumnal. www.amazon.co.uk/Intervals-Da...
The cover of Intervals of Darkness in black and red with an image of a figure being stalked through a dark space by an unseen figure, with a quote from author John Grindrod: "Existing somewhere between Robert Aickman and J.G. Ballard, these blackly funny tales are sure to chill you, no matter how high you turn the central heating."

A 1970s poster: Milton Keynes is a great place to put down roots. The main image is of a mother, father and two children standing awkwardly in the garden of a red brick new build house. It's somewhere between nostalgic, melancholy and spooky.

Death Valley > Ludwig in the cosy comic crime rankings. Would prefer more mystery solving and less peeling the eternal onion of conspiracy from Ludwig. (It’s still fun, though.)

Two people dressed as seagulls (white costumes with padded bellies, which also cover their heads and have beaks, black wings on their arms and yellow tights and shoes) stand either side of a model of a bulldog in a Union Jack vest. The dog appears to be fibreglass, and is so shit it looks like AI, but the photo is from c.2014. They are standing underneath yards and yards of bunting

“Nobody who speaks German could be an evil man”
I'm beginning to think that the English language makes people insane. US and UK are both basket cases. Australia and Aotearoa are facing some of the same problems. Canada seems to be the only non-island English speaking country that's still sane, probably because they're only half English speaking.

Aren’t most if not all movies made with other people’s money? I mean he couldn’t film the thing in his backyard with an iPhone.
1 am a big Star Wars fan and I always have been, but I personally think that George Lucas is one of the biggest bullshitters in Hollywood.
The bluff that George had everything planned out of all nine movies is poodoo. It's a useful bluff because he likes making movies with other people's money.
